ISI is an independent provider of various security-related services. Although incorporated in Liberty, the company has strong ties with Bretonia. The company Headquarters are currently on the refitted prison liner 'Nostalgia for Infinity', and talks are underway to secure office space aboard Freeport 4.
The company was founded in 815AS, although existed in name only until the lease of the Nostalgia was secured in early 817AS. Currently, ISI is working to build and expand its business in several areas:
ISI is the brainchild of private detective Dirk Gently, and was founded on the realisation that information is a priceless commodity for the authorities. Having secured funding from backers in both Liberty and Bretonia, Mr Gently was able to formally incorporate ISI on Manhatten in early 815. Although nominally a Liberty based operation, almost all work is actually carried in Magellan, and the Liberty offices only engage in administrative work. This arrangement is intended to allow ISI investigators to bypass some of the restraints that are normally in place in 'civilised' space. Negotiations are ongoing to secure office space on Freeport 4 in an attempt to move as much work there as possible. Operations are currently run from the converted prison liner 'Nostalgia for Imfinity'. This mobile HQ is on a long-term lease from a group of Junkers and allows effective long-term operations to take place without any logistical problems. The current captain of the Nostalgia is Ilia Volyova, while Mr Gently is head of operations.
Since ISI is still in the process of establishing itself in the marketplace, the only departments currently operating are Intelligence/Espionage and Defence Consultancy, both of which draw on the same resource pool. Other departments are expecting to come online in the near future.
>>>Customer Relations<<<
ISI has strong ties to the lawful authorities of both Bretonia and Liberty. As such, the company is pleased to offer itself as a security contractor to the BAF, BPA, LN, and LPI. ISI is willing and able to take on any tasks that the lawful authorities of these houses require, provided that neither house suffers as a result.
Kusari and Rheinland are, due to the nature of ISI's work, off limits to all explicitly ISI affiliated ships. Unfortunately, it is expected that the governments of these houses will soon object to our presence in their systems due to our political allegiances.
ISI is also pleased to offer its services to any client who is able to operate legally within both Bretonia and Liberty. It is expected that escort and bounty hunting work will provide a steady revenue stream from this sector. Unfortunately, ISI escort ships will be unable to accompany trade convoys into Rheinland or Kusari space.
>>>Assets<<<
It is an oft-repeated cliche that the personnel are a company's greatest asset, but in the case of ISI we believe such a claim to be true. ISI has access to an employee base with one of the widest skill-sets in Sirius, and our investigators come from all walks of life. Working for ISI we have:
-Ex-military and police pilots
-Ex-Bounty hunters
-Ex-pirates (only after an intense course of re-education therapy)
-Ex-smugglers
Employing pilots from such a variety of backgrounds allows clients to rest assured that ISI has the expertise to ensure that any job is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
However, personnel alone do not make a company great. ISI is pleased to announce that it has a wide variety of top-of-the-range ships and equipment available to its investigators. One example is our classified contra-sim'¢ cargo technology. This device allows our consultants to simulate a smuggling run and test the authorities' ability to track down contraband cargoes without falling foul of the law themselves.
On top of this technological tool-kit, ISI employs a wide range of ship types such as the Series YX Dromedary. Within the cavernous hold of this unassuming freighter, ISI technicians have fitted a wide array of communications, surveillance, and computing equipment, while still leaving space for the provisions to support a team for up to two weeks in the field. This ship allows ISI investigators to move unsuspected to nearly any part of Sirius, obtain any data required, and perform the analysis en route back to base.
>>>Capabilities<<<
With a wide range of ships and equipment, there is almost no job that ISI can not accomplish, although Directors have been quick to point out that ISI is not a war-fighting organisation, and can not accept contracts to act as such.
ISI's capabilities can be grouped into 4 main categories:
While category one (1) should be self explanatory, the others may not necessarily be so. Capability two (2) refers to our ability to analyse the defensive capabilities of a system, organisation, or even an entire house. We will then prepare a detailed report on our findings, and act as consultants to ensure that any recomendations are implemented successfully. We may, for example, run a cargo of fake cardamine from outside house borders to known sell-points to analyse the state's ability to prevent narcotic traficing.
Capability three (3) refers to ISI's ability to gather data on almost any concievable phenomenon. We can provide reports on traffic levels, piracy levels, cargo quantities delivered, military strength in a given area, or even stellar phenomenon. The more specialist research areas may require the hiring of temporary specialists, and the costs would be reflected in our quoted price.
Capability four (4) refers to our ability to escort and protect lawful ships provided that they do not enter space which is regarded as sovereign territory by the governments of either Rheinland or Kusari. This includes, but is not limited to: convoy protection duty, guarding mining fields, or even anti-piracy patrolling.
>>>The future<<<
The future is bright for ISI. With an ever-expanding fleet, new contracts on the horizon, and soon-to-be-negotiated office space on Freeport 4, the company is in a strong position for the coming years. Inter-house conflict is set to continue, and this should provide a steady stream of work for our analysts. The rise of Gallia, the ever-present threat of criminal cartels, and the continued activities of the so-called "nomads", mean that ISI is a ripe prospect for investment
