' Wrote:Right. We're not an MMO. Not "massive" enough.
But what is enough for an MMO? Thousands? Is there any specific number that makes a game "MMO," or is it in the game mechanics itself?
My case excactly.
Imagine a game which is classified as an MMO right now dwindles down to 200 players on the server. Is it no longer an MMO? Not really. This is why I think it's defined by the game mechanics but the term "MMO" confuses this.

Many Men Online Role Playing Furries.
Fixed that one.
Freelancer can't be fit in any genere, because it is split in two parts: the Roleplaying action taking place on the forum, and the game itself, where the action materializes.
On the other hand, it has more than 10000 accounts. Even if only 200 of those are active at a time, I still think it makes it massive enough.
Freelancer is a >>> "Space Combat Sim" in my view...of course, we use it to Role Play nowadays...but in 89% of cases ends up with a fight, as it should end:Dfor more fun
' Wrote:I think the question is not if Disco is massive enough to be called an MMO.
I think the question should be 'are MMORPG-s deserve the "RPG" acronym enough to compare them with Disco?'
Which I believe they don't, since it relies so much on player input to give it an rpg feel. That, and the fact developers hardly seem to support roleplay.
I think Disco's closer to an RPG than say DCUO.
