Static clears from the screen, and the man on it rushes to begin. Being a Corsair, you know the face of the Defender of Crete, the Red Cross on his chest, having pride of place next to his Coalition medals, and his robotic left arm making obvious that this is Elder Ares, Coalition Captain.
"My brothers, I must make this quick before the tyrants block this communication..."
He stops to breathe, obviously about to speak ridiculously quickly...
"Our intel suggests that the Brotherhood which are ostensibly in control of Crete have taken the Omega Pirate Guild, the OPG, back into the fold.
Now, we, the Coalition, have been labelled traitors. This hypocrisy disgusts me. As you all saw, the OPG were in league with slaving Hessians and Outcasts, even having docking clearance for Planet Malta in some cases. It is unacceptable to bring such Cardamine-infused filth onto Planet Crete. The Coalition would never allow it, yet, apparently, the Brotherhood does.
Will you, my brothers, aid the treacherous Outcast-loving scum, or will you rise against your oppressors like the backstabbing Elder Montoya, who says one thing about Outcasts and their friends, but means another?
I'm afraid that it seems this communication is about to be cut, but before it is, ask yourself...
Who are the real traitors here? The Coalition, fighting for the people, or the ones that have been undisputably proven to be friends of the Outcasts, and are now receiving aid from the Bro..."
The screen is filled with static immediately, followed by a red cross on the screen. A voice calmly and slowly states, "For the interests of public morality, this service has been blocked. Please contact the Gamma Media Censors and Complaints Office for further details."
Montoya's face pops up, and he begins his address to the people.
"Ah, I knew this was going to happen. And before I allow the propagandist governing bodies and twisted lies of the Coalition skewer your minds, I thought I would say this.
I had a chat with Gentle the other day. Despite holding a gun to his head in the past, he came to me to reconcile with the Corsairs. Now, of course I can understand distrust, but the Brotherhood will never turn a hermano away. Pride and blindness block the truth from many people's visions. Gentle made this mistake, and I have made some too. I want to give Gentle and the OPG the chance I never had, and will probably never have.
Here is a copy of the communiques sent between myself and Gentle in the recent days.
Quote:Hello there.
Now I have been approached by a member of the TBH and have had a request for help tabled at my door. Im certain you remember well the mess that I made of the [OPG] the last time they flew in sirius. It IS my intention to resurect teh OPG. Id like your thoughts on how I can reinvent what should be an outstanding faction. You were both a critic and somtimes an admirer of some of the things that transpired when I last ran the organisation. I wish to resurect the OPG as a pure bred corsair clan that is situated in Omega 41 at Leon base. before this can happen I need a clear plocy between the TBH, Benitex and non affiliated corsairs. Know that the [OPG] will always strive to maintain a sense of self autonomy but we would also like to have a voice within the council of Crete should we agree on a course of action.
I would like you to submit to me a list of things that previously caused [OPG] to fail as a corsair faction and potential remedies.
As a unit the OPG will be committed to the defence of all corsair holdings and systems.
Will use only equipment and ships available to corsairs or those with a good working alliance
Will NOT form alliances outside of those authorised and agreed in the council of crete
Will take orders from its own heirarchy with a view to upholding dictates agreed by the council but will not accept direct authority and orders unless previously agreed by myself or second in command from any other corsair faction.
Will maintain the right to KOS any group or member of any group that directly threatens the existence of the OPG and its members.
These are some of the thoughts that have passed to me recently. I hope you find the terms acceptable. It would be an honour and pleasure for [OPG] to lend its military skill to that of the [TBH].
Let me know what your thoughts are regarding this matter.
Quote:The OPG would be welcome to have a voice in the council of Elders, starting with only one delegate, but as your faction gains members, more would be accepted as delegates. As the Benitez are a single family, they are only entitled to one voice on the council, which is what their current disagreement with us is about. As the OPG are a collection of pilots from the Corsairs rather than a single family, this isn't a problem to you.
TBH pilots will treat the OPG with respect and pretend that nothing happened in the past, unless it is their wish to open old wounds. I wouldn't be surprised if the Benitez did the same though.
Here is the list you request:
- You strived to maintain neutral relationships between Outcasts and Corsairs (you adressed this above)
- You used Rheinland pirate and/or Hessian cruisers (Current RP is that they were both developed by the Hessians I think)
- You decided to put yourself in an unfavourable position with not a lot of power behind you. For example, TBH have recently declared hostilities against SCRA for breech of laws and undesired weapons usage against one of our members, Ivan Voronov. If I recall correctly you did much the same thing. But then again, my memory isn't known for its accuracy.
- Overall, it was these three things, much more the last one though, that caused your previous downfall.
OPG are free to form alliances from the decision of the council, as long as they fit RP (like, I could imagine OPG being allied to the Gaians [if they are still active...] if you return to Cadiz and begin operations against Bretonia like last time; whereas TBH is only freindly).
The taking Order's part is a bit suspect, but only in terms of the technicalities involved with the great deal of types of orders that can be given, not the actual statement itself. For example, I wouldnt expect an OPG to accept an order from TBH to attack Omicron Alpha on his own. However, I would expect that if, for example, OPG were to become hostile to Benitez for some reason, that your pilots would, if ordered, leave the area along with the Benitez to sort out your problems elsewhere. Just an example, of course, but I would like to know your answer none the less.
I look forward to the OPG becoming the Corsair faction it should have been first time round! Any more questions, Ill try to answer for you Gentle.
Please excuse the shorthand used in these communiques, refering to RP and other factors which seem irrelevant.

A somewhat provocative news article was released anonyomously the next day. The Media Censors and Complaints have not yet been able to find the culprit and, anyway, the damage was already done.
Well, citizens of Crete, it appears that it is time for our scientific experts from Yaren base to provide you with some information on Cardamine. Now, you probably don't know that aside from addictive effects, it has only positive effects on the human body, actually increasing the human lifespan by up to 589% as latest studies on captured Outcasts have shown.
Now, on addiction, the reason that it is so widely, and rightly hated. The drug, Cardamine, is immediately and fully addictive, rendering the imbiber an effective slave of the producers of said drug as it is only available from immoral, slave trading drug dealers.
Now, to further the point. If one lands on Malta, and spends any time whatsoever upon its surface, the ambient presence of the chemical in the atmosphere will have the effects of taking the substance recreationally. This means that this Corsair would suggest using combat-drones and orbital nuclear strikes to deal with the Maltese drug threat instead of landing on Malta, which some of our allegedly loyal Corsairs have done.
It would be wise to petition the government to disallow any planetfall on Malta, be it for military purposes or otherwise, as our marines will return as addicts. No matter how strong the mind, they will eventually become slaves of our most heinous foes. If any Corsair were to find himself in Malta's spaceports for non-military reasons, it is this publication's opinion that he be exterminated immediately so that he may at least die with honour as a free man, instead of as an Outcast slave thanks to a most foolish error.
