Everything's fine in my Mining Ship, the standard turrets use no power.
(One thing I have noticed though is that the shield drains quickly after only a few hits. The armored transport could take a lot more hits with the same shield. I don't know why this is, maybe something to do with the size of the ship?)

It's possible to replace the standard transport turrets with those that do use power. I've tried this with some Sunfrenzy and Skyblast turrets, and the energy usage is about what I would expect - not too little, not too great. I'm not sure which set-up I prefer though.

Actually the battleship stock turrets dont use any power.... which is fine really, because I suspect a ship that massive should not ever run low on power. Inside there would be some massive fusion generator that should run those guns for hours.
Personally I think the large transport could use more juice, it has 2 guns and 7 turrets but it gets drained very quickly.
