No you are right. It is perplexing how so many pilots would be involved in the clinical study of these weapons. All I was really getting at is that we shouldn't jump all over people who do something that they have every right to do. I personally have never and will never mount Nomad turrets on any of my capships. But, as I said, it is available on a very neutral base, therefore I dont think we should be beating the people that do mount them to death.
It goes back to the whole Tau-31 route, which I think you all remember. It was there and you really couldn't blame those who chose to use it. Did it suck, yes, and thats why it was removed. What I mean by this analogy, is that if the use of these weapons was in fact blatantly OORP, it would either be against server rules to mount them or they would be moved to some unattainable place (i.e. Wilderness, Lost Battlestar, etc.) Until either one of those things happens, I think the folks that tell people they cant have them are both OORP and breaking rules themselves by spouting non-existent server rules.

ON MY WAY OUT OF RETIREMENT
Were I Zoner King for a Day, I'd decide that the Zoners were sick and tired of selling anything to anyone. Except of course to Zoners. Is that what Juan means by "Zoner zealots"? Hmm..
We can agree or disagree til the Chaos come home, folks. But as pointed out, we don't have the Keys to the Kingdom. Until Igiss sees the wisdom of moving ships and weapons about to enhance and/or encourage the use of proper RP gear, then we're "S.O.L.", and the Zoners will have to put up with the unwashed masses with wads of credits stopping by to get their respective bangstick fixes.
Here's the really funny part: Nomad capship turrets are really not much - if any - better than human-made weapons. But due to the reputation of the Blaster and Cannon, people automatically think the capship versions must also be awesome. Sure, they're better than basic turrets...but they aren't much better than house turrets.
As a sidenote, the only one of my ships that uses Nomad guns is my Hessian bomber...and I'm probably just going to ditch them. My Gaian bomber uses quad Gaia's Angels, my Gaian fighter uses the same plus a pair of heavy flashpoints, my Hessian fighter uses quad Natterturn Zweis plus a pair of LWB blasters...and they all work quite well.:)
' Wrote:I didn't know BHG were involved in nomad studies, is that from ingame footage or just some RP?
Cant say ive ever read anything from ingame thats said or hinted towards that but i guess i could have missed it.
It's in the Bounty Hunter faction info (F8) ... and it's not really all the BH, but just a part of them, called "The Guild Core", that started the bloody war with The Order. But they probably ruined it for all the other Bounty Hunters.

That and I imagine Liberty put a huge price on the Order's collective head. Big money killing those Egyptian wannabes.

Mate, I'm not going around on the server telling people they can't mount them. Remember that we can't tell other people how to RP, and I have better things to do in my spare time.
OORP does not necesarily mean breaking server rules. You can't punish someone who joins a Liberty faction and mounts four Salamancas on his Lib VHF. I'm simply saying that Nomad Cannons are not RP kosher, unless you are a part of the Das Wilde or the Keepers.
Before, it used to be:
"OMG! You got a NOMAD blaster??? Where? How?"
These days it just:
"Oh yeah, I got them at a Freeport..."
The thing is, just because they are sold on many neutral bases does not mean that everyone should have them. Just because the Fury guns are sold on Zoner bases, a Bretonian Police officer should not be able to mount them.
