Well, ive spent a bit of time doing some concept work for one of my assignments, and i thought why not make a ship that i can use for both my assignment and as a new/updated model for discovery? i figured its time to update the broadsword, and after a bit of concept drawing etc, i came up with this new 3d representation of the broadsword.

here is the current model ingame:

here is the newer mesh:

and a couple comparison shots between the two:

the bomber is mostly finished, there are just a few changes i will be making (but this is mainly to optimize it for texture painting and creating normal maps). comments, thoughts and criticisms are appreciated as always.

You managed to make the Broadsword even cooler than it is now. Great job !
But I can see a problem... Currently the Broadsword is a tad underpowered. It's basically a big, easy to hit bomber with light bomber stats. And your new model is even bigger...I do like the model, though, but is a Broadsword rebalance planned for .86 ?

if the newer model is bigger or changed (as this one is), then the stats may be changed to reflect such changes. i havent really discussed this with martin regarding balance, because this was just a spur-of-the-moment modelling thing that was meant more for my assignment than for discovery, but i just decided to kill 2 birds with one stone, so i cannot give an answer yet if 1. it will get in and 2. if it gets in it will get new stats should it require them.

Model looks great for a heavy bomber, if it stays light one it will be the worst bomber in game balance wise. Broad is easy to hit as hacker gb, now its even more bigger.

I would rather like to see broad made on concept of bayonet if it will stay light one. Make it bit bigger, add two tubes on bayo and you got a new shinny bomber.

Very nice but like other pointed out, it's getting too big. Hope this gets in with stats to reflect it's power/size.

id just like to point out, the size isnt set in stone yet, it can change. this was just an initial size comparison to show how the modules of the ship are shaped and sized as compared to the original one. also, the HF was modelled by turkish, not me.

Tubes on Bayo wouldn't work well. Making bomber crest version of Bayonet could work, though.

Bomber's nice, but I think LH ships should be slimmer and lighter. Of course exceptions can be made, but it's up to official LHs.
