Seems to be a never ending supply of people coming online who don't fully understand the rules. Perhaps i'm one of them. However, as we all play on disco, we learn and grow and thanks to the more senior players they educate us as to how we should be RPing and abiding by the rules.
Anyway my little whine is about people coming online and their mates obviously giving them money to get started and not giving them a rule book.
Can we have a few more screen flashes with some combat/playing rules from console.
Yesterday i seemed to have a never ending day of people engaging or being engaged in combat, only to hit their cruise engines thinking that they could manouvre to re-engage. Correct me if i'm wrong but the rules state that this is a no no. You can't hit cruise then expect to keep fighting, regardless of RP. The fight has then been terminated and the offender must exit that system.
I see the point that some battles may then disintegrate into jousts with out cruise, this may be an issue for new development in the game. However, it's frustrating when people roll up and expect to re-invent the wheel.
The rules in the game help out the RP!!
While i'm at it (and this is an example no offence intended), Corsairs cannot dock in their enemies space!
Ok maybe not so much an example i have the screenies.
Anyway done whining, but when there are rules to abide by and we all try to as we learn of them, then we understand that they are there for a reason.
If i have to live by them then so do you. Guys/Girls give your mates a rule book!
And me too when you see i need one, i'll gladly accept it. I like the game.
Although I agree, and it is the rules, it really hampers battle. I think this is one of the worst rules on disco, (although I understand it, too many pilots would resort to simple harassment) reason being because cruising in battle is one of the most useful tactics, especially in group fights. But I think RP wise this rule kinda takes some of the fun away. Would a pilot not use every tool at his disposal to dispatch an enemy?
everyone agrees that the rule is not supporting roleplay - but it does support sportmanship and fairplay in terms of balancing fights. the rule is not perfect - but if everyone just sticks to "no cruise in pvp, no matter what ( no matter if you want to catch up or perform manouvers )" then everyone will be fine.
when you cruise - you cruise away - when you cruise a u-turn, you re-engage.... when you accidently cruise into the wrong escape direction - make a wider circle - just try to get more distance between you and them..
BUT if they follow you - you can engage again, cause chasing continues the battle. so if you are followed, you can even E-kill and shoot at them, drop mines, whatever you like... but if they do not follow you - you keep cruising away. - if in doubt, keep cruising away. -- > and as a consequence, leave the system as fast as possible. retreat rules come into effect, and if you like, you can wait for them in the next system. ( that is no re-engagement )
like i said, not a perfect rule, but disco has so many very different ships out there - and some ships just take more advantage from cruising in combat than others.
How exactly does cruising in combat help "tactics"? I agree that the jousts are really annoying; and whenever I'm in combat, I try and get behind an enemy. If I fail, they're behind me, and the battle is interesting.
But cruising... Tactics... Question mark? You maneuver like a rock, can't shoot, and by the time you turn around, you're probably a good 2K away from your target. I'm confused by this logic.
... 7... 8, 9, 10... But I don't want to make my point in the others.
In a sabre which was my prefered ship i used cruise and then EK to get a faster strafe. While fighting in a sabre strafing is your freind. It made a lot of difference.
