I've been flying around with my trader lately. Time over time I got back to Omega-49 and Dublin ... and for some funny reason, my trader got blown to bits by 2 or 3 Corsair Titan or Centurion NPCs ...
Okay, I know Corsairs are suppose to be there, but c'mon ... How come the Mk1 Fighters take a Stork down in less then 30 seconds ?
In Gallia, I'd understand, as in those systems bombers are flying around and they can actually use SNAC ... but in Omega 49 it's just fighters ...
So my question is that are these set so freaking strong with a reason, or they are just like this and nobody ever cared to reset them ?
Outcast NPCs do less damage to the shield, meaning they don't often drop it (a few of them have infernos though).
Corsair NPCs can drop the shields much quicker than any non-Gallic NPCs, so they feel like they're stronger.
It's not only the shield ... I wouldn't be supprised about that, with all the Tizonias and Coladas on them, but after my shield was gone, the Stork's hull with an armor upgrade dissapeared in less then 10 seconds, while being attacked by 4 Titan NPCs ... this is what bugs me ..
Ive seen a swarm of 8 outcast npcs rip a IMG battlecruiser apart in a minute.... Just... dont ask about NPC strenght..
My UAU8 Salvager was utterly raped by 4 kusari Chimeras... shield went poof and hull melted within 50 seconds..
How to fix NPC issue: FINITE powercore.... only reason your transport dies fast is because NPCs are programmed to get behind. Player method of flying a transport "straight forward with guns shooting back"... now problem is, your guns are slow and the npcs are agile as hell and has infinite powercores so they NEVER stop firing unless killed
-Your hull is shot for 10 to 15 seconds
-You got a CAU8 on, hull point = 480k
-There are 4 Titans and each one mounts 4 Mk2 Salamancas (2120 hdps)
-NPCs has infinite powercore
Total Hull Damage: 15 x 4 x 4 x 2120 = 508k
So yea, you're pretty much a goner. Hope that helps.

Maths is a fun thing, but dissappointing sometimes ...
Also, I don't use a CAU8 , but a while back ago, my Bretonian Dessy with a CAU7 was eaten up by Corsair NPCs in Dublin in about 40 seconds ... but if I try and make my rep barely neutral to Corsairs, then I'll be filed for a sanction sooner or later ...
Anyways, I guess I'll stay away from every single trade route with Corsair NPCs around it ....

*sits down by the campfire and stretches his hands*
Children, tonight I'm going to tell you a story from Omicron Eta...
<Flashback effects go here>
Me and my friend, Valinor, were hanging around in Omicron Eta with our Centurions and everything was nice, we were going to enter Alpha, get some fun and leave, like usual. But before we could get to the Alpha jumphole we met the whole capital ship fleet of the OC that farm Osiris missions. One of them - a Solaris Storta decided to chase us and we moved a tad away. But suddenly to our rescue like 5 Titan NPCs showed up. The poor Storta got a bad backstab and tried to run all the way back to the station near the jumphole to Alpha, but soon realised that with all the titans behind that ship the damage got even bigger. Moral of the story, children and space pilots, never turn your back to a corsair, they'll rip you to shreds.
