so - thats a fun concept of the latest LSF prototype, tested for the Navy.
a ship utilizing the harvested fruits from the Nomad conflicts and research - featuring a Nomad type starlight jumpdrive ( no more fuel ) - as well as 4 rather weak conventional engines.
all in all the ship is comparable to the first nuclear submarines. it is large produces a lot of excess power and is basicly a stardrive embedded in a huge heatsink.
there are almost no crews quarters but only a bridge, small crew section and an observation lab.
the ship design features typical liberty elements but goes further in terms of flowing lines and round shapes ( front part ). the conventional engines are very untypically placed in the midsection ( like the Togo ) - and the experimental jumpengine is almost completely unshielded.
oh - and keep in mind that this is not a ship submission, it is just a play of mind what 3rd generation capital ships in disco might look like ( if the houses and factions weren t spending all their money on warfare all the time )

the latest generation of the shire features the rounded shapes of the clydesdale and the low bridge section of the bretonian medium transport line.
its containers are heavily shielded by the ships shell structure leaving almost nothing exposed to any weaponfire.
the two engines are located at the very front to protect it from small smaller CD fire from the rear.
with its formidable front weaponpower, it is one of the few ships capable of destroying even smaller cruisers. 18 guns, thick armour and bretonias latest engine design for a maximum of thrust make that ship the backbone of the wartorn bretonian region and the only ship bretonia has invested intensivly into ever since the gallic invasion.

Scorpion concept - instead of just a frame, this one adds a bit more mass ... but it doesn t look nomad nor hybrid - oh well
Ooh. Pretty. Interesting design, interesting lore and stuff. Looks like it gets rather thin up there towards the stern, though.
And is there a reason that the four conventional engines are "rather weak"? They do look small, but I'd think that if they're the ships only means of moving around normally, they ought to have at least some power to them, right?
Then again, I guess this is just the prototype.
Which reminds me: Kishiro's supposedly working on just this sort of thing up in Honshu. Would be cool to see a Kusari-concept of a "Jump-Ship".

This. Would've love to see 3rd generation prototypes of all major houses.
no chance to get any of those two of course - but they are here to give other modellers ideas maybe.
the lsf ship makes use of a new approach at the naval design - while the shire mk3 picks up the clydesdale design and translates it into a supertransport - while trying to keep the bretonian feeling.
what "can" be done with those is to "wreck" them and maybe place prototype wrecks somewhere with a nice ID card.
