Quick question,
I (Bounty Hunter Gunboat) was being chased by two outcast gunboats that barely speak English, then while trying to get away I was attacked by a level 15 fighter, who doesn't say anything before he starts shooting. Now if this level 15 shoots at you, then flies away to the tradelane you're trying to get to, disrupts the tradelane, then starts shooting at your hull (since your shields are now down) are you justified in shooting at him?
I didn't realize he was a level 15 until I clicked on him right before he died.
I think it was ok that I shot him because A: He didn't say anything before he shot. B: He disrupted the trade lane which kinda is like cd'ing me. It keeps me from getting away.
Now if I'm wrong, I apologize, and if I see him again, I will apologize to him. And if the admins think I deserve a sanction, I will serve that sanction.
But I would like to know if I did something wrong here.
- when you were in a combat situation with the 2 outcasts - and he interfered ... he became a voluntary part of the combat - and made himself a valid target = you are allowed to shoot him
- if you were not being attacked by the 2 outcasts but chased - and the lvl15 CDed you to make the others close up - he also made himself part of the fight and would - in that case .. .become a valid target = you are allowerd to shoot him
- if you were not in a fight at all - but in a state of "cold war" ( meaning you outcasts were not firing but you were still in a state of verbal combat ) - you d NOT be allowed to engage him = you must NOT fire on him
however - i do remember one of the admins once mention:
if an underlevel annoys you too much and simply keeps bumping into you - firing at your shields without effect or spamming you with local chat ..... it can simply "happen" that he runs into a randomly dropped nuke mine.
now i cannot say if that was meant to be a loophole for exasperated players vs. lowlevels ... or if it was a joke. ( it was not written in green )
Quote: 5.3 Characters that are level 29 and below may only be attacked if at least one of the following conditions is met:
a) They do not have a civilian ID. Recruit IDs should be respected if the person is using it appropriately. b) They attack you first by draining your shields to 50% or disrupt your cruise engines. c) They are at the scene of a battle between yourself and someone else and refuse to leave when told to leave. (Civilians should leave the area when combat takes place or accept the risk of being attacked if remaining. Onlookers are fair targets.)
d) Civilians who possess a CODENAME weapon may be attacked within roleplay at any level according to the piracy requirements.
:rtfm:
Edit: you did nothing wrong, don't worry. next time you meet someone like that just kill him
