I remember when I played WAAAAAAY back on Discovery Berlin server, if I said how far back I'd just be lying, but anyway, I remember there was this weapon that had like a 1% drop chance and all the nomad NPC's had it, it was a small "missile-pod" type of weapon. What it did was fire a lot of tiny missiles all doing some damage through a short period of time.
This made me wonder, is it possible to implement such weaponry here? I can imagine they would be class 9 weapons, or possibly a torp/cd slot weapons, which would do some fair damage and mild aoe effect as to damage the target's equipment.
I have NO idea whatsoever how much damage is needed to knock out a... say... thruster or a SNAC, but it would be an interesting addition, no? I even devised the stats on the gun a little, and I came up with the following:
Damage: 6-7k (hull only, no effect on shields, or if necessary, half on shields)
Refire: around 1 every 5 seconds
Speed: 400 m/s
Energy cost: Either half of MR cost or no cost*
Ammo: Either unlimited or 70
*no cost if ammo is limited, kind of like missiles
This is just an idea, and it's basically an egg. So, if the projectiles would HAVE to be actual missiles, then the idea can be tossed out because a too good missile will end up overused, and a bad one not used at all. Best thing would be make a MR type gun that does AOE damage, if possible.
Have at, and no trolling please.

Mik, I really don't understand sometimes why do you want to add some a tad overpowered stuff around.
You want a missle (in other words, something with its own aiming), with Cannonball damage, Mini Razor speed (almost four and a half times faster than Cannonball); refire rate 0.2 and area of effect. Really, it's too much. Though, if you are referring to some of gundam-style missles, I suppose that the limited resources of server are the main reasoin of its unability to sustain massive usage of rapid-firing missle launchers.

As much as Gundam Missiles are epic, I do not want everyone spamming them...or anything close.
Sorry.

Sounds sort of like the old Swarm Missile Pods we had back in the day. By the time I started using them, they were energy-based missiles with decent refire, tracking, speed, damage... but they were quite overpowered and led to server lag. I was probably a major contributor to that lag, anyway. My Rheinland bomber had two of 'em mounted in the torp slots, and my favorite tactic for dealing with anything was MISSILESPAM MISSILESPAM MISSILESPAM.
Earlier on in the life of the Swarms, before I got my hands on any, I heard they were a lot more like the ones you're talking about. They either had a much faster refire or fired multiple missiles at once, but I never got to see them in action when they were in their prime. So I'm not sure.
But energy based missiles have been decided against in the past here. Too much potential for spamming them when you don't need to worry about ammo and ammo costs, and more lag issues.
And the ones you're proposing... seem a bit too powerful, too, as sadtranslation mentioned. They'd probably just end up getting nerfed to the point that you'd be better off with a Razor, anyway, and fall into disuse.

YES! The swarm pods! That was it! I'd like to see them back, only a little nerfed and fixed as to have no lag. I think missileswarms would be a great addition to current arsenals, if they could be made so that they don't cause lag or be overpowered in any way.

Basically it would be a dumbfire explosive ordinance with rather high speed, I think that's an idea worth thinking of. I mean it would have ZERO homing capability, but have high speed and decent damage. (not MR decent, some 6-7k max)

[font=Comic Sans Ms]So as gunboats are being further nerfed by this, and fighter weapons are not sped up to be effective as interceptors, what will we be using to shoot down bombers?
