So since the Barge is now useable by any ID, are the cargo size restrictions given by IDs basically irellevant / no longer applied as rule?

I ask 1) because logically that would make sense and 2) I have seen a huge number of Freelancer ID storks etc going round.

Former leader of AFA (Farmers Alliance)
Former leader of [ALG] faction
Former GMG Trade Director

Retired due to career focus. Returned due to career de-focus.

this is somehow sad but true,
I think the main reason there is for lack of house traders, is the fact that most house traders don't have the better routes and the non house traders can play in the same field...

that is one of the reason I started (see sig),
not being bound or tied to a single house, no favoring
certain groups, only restriction I have atm is size of my <strike>E-peen</strike> ship..
and class of guns.

didnt it? I see lot of factioned transports, I bet if there was no cargo limit, or alternative (e.g.my idea) I would see none.

There are in fact quite some faction traders roaming around, in Liberty you have the Ageira, DSE, KoF and USI. Current biggest (but un-official) trade faction of Bretonia is [Convoy], even though they have changed to BAF stuff.

But I have to agree that the cargo limitations didn't worked out that well, and I'm convinced that this is due to the fact that the difference between the trade factions and independent is too small. You gain like 500 extra cargo, which isn't even that much. If the difference between the two is bigger you'll see more independent but faction ID'd traders.

Also the effect of all the wars is not doing the trade corporations a lot of good, there was a small moment the USI couldn't go to Rheinland and Kusari which limits us by 50%.

So, an independent trader can't use a Stork for trading, because "it's not realistic for a single person to support such a large ship on their own."

But that same independent trader can use a Barge for trading just fine.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiigghht.

so do my idea of removing cargo limits, but giving tech control to the factions, like with gunboats.

I meet Bowex, Ageira, Interspace, Gateway, Samura, Kishiro, Republican, IMG, DSE, Zoner, Junker vessels and so on and independant traders from time to time.
