Well done. Bloody AI cruiser popping up as generic escorts or generic heavy attack craft were getting a mite ridiculous.

Quote:The opening up of the ID was to allow players to roleplay and to discourage elitism on the server. (That was my reasoning at least). Claims that the ID's open availability somehow led to the demise of a faction are groundless. There are plenty of other factions that are very active while having IDs that are freely available to purchase.
Did you consult the official faction leader about this eliteisim?
Oh wait our recruitment was hamstring because of posts on the recruitment thread..? So a handful of official players isnt enough to warrant consideration? not...elite...enough... for a note?
This does not consider all avenues possibilities and potentials of the factions life and possibilities within your limited community view. Faction thread? do you know how many pms, skype im's and in game pm's i got about recruitment? More then you listed I can clearly recall.
So should we expect when the other factions that have spent their time here reach a handful that your going to lynch them as well?
Or if a new group finally gets official has a little problem because of your archic guidelines of activity? your going to squash re edit and retool every old id into nerfdom at the slightest hint of trouble?
This is madness. micromanagement, and plain old dishonor. If the admin team has a clear bright shiny future without elitisim and perfect balance and no hard feelings in the future for gods sake rip off the bandaid now real fast before you peel the rest of the skin off.
The elitism remark must be addressed and colored for what it is.. clearly your opinion.. is your opinion worth more then one vote here?..
Your personal opinion about closed factions should not be a factor in other peoples gameplay until you have some sort of meeting of the minds.
There is no such thing it was not handled in a responsible manner to my understanding and frankly if VE is freaked out NOW its only because of your conduct Previously.
Quote:It's sold on the Zoner base. Zoners can fly it.
Then why in gods name are we prodding a dead horse? if their zoners yay and you want the ID gone with little issue anywho. /SI and Addinfo can provide an AI depth to any faction any ship and any entity of the game.
Heres something funny.
Code:
"Oh we should change the ID to facilitate a general faction in the omicrons of AI's. "
Cool thats a neat idea looks like a faction that just went official did this already.
"Oh we should change the Id for them so it facilitates an AI faction in the omicrons."
Theres already one... thier uh.
"Cannon make the announcement." *cannon comes out of his trashcan and in his green furryness post changes to the id making it public for everyone*
oh looks like that offical faction that picked up the id didnt like us limiting some of thier ships ZOI
(while screams of it going public were completely ignored for no reason till now)
"well thier peaceful ai's we should let them exsplore the galaxy and keep it public too..for...some...reason.. i forgot"
*With nothing to restrict and train these floods of Lolearwig cruisers havoc is wrought.*
Whoa.. theres alot of jerks with these independant ai ids in dublin and new york we need to fix this.
Lets make damn sure the ai's are peaceful..
Okay..
Man i almost wish there was a closed faction that would manage all this crap for us because the specific roleplay we had to enforce with this dang ID took forever to fix.
Oh looks like we spooked the VE.. arent they zoners? oh i wonder if they know they can use the ships with a zoner ID
herp herp derpity derp derp
Quote:The real loophole is that the ID is generic but also needs a diplomacy to function.
Whitch... we... had.. 8 months ago.
Really. at what point do you realize between your ideas of making elitism = bad and official closed id's = elitism?
Convicted charged and sentenced without a trial.. is kinda what this looks like.
Thats what it felt like Mr. Admin sir. It felt with absolutely no word that we had a black bag saked over our collective heads and beaten to take a change that didn't need to happen. If the "collective" admin opinion is to push against eliteisim.. Lets nail down what elitism is
Please define the term.. define its negative impact on the community. Please before there is more misunderstanding and gun jumping over this. every closed faction just squeezed out a bead of sweat. And quite frankly i would to.
If im coming to a role play server and im looking for graduated levels of immersion and experience and *gasp* structured and enforced lore within a faction that requires i take a handful of dumb tests. be trained, or even indoctrinated to act IN rp WITH that faction.. <--- is that elitism? because thats what you abolished.
And it sounds like what your trying to completely stamp out in that case please be blunt say so so we can all collectively make up our minds of whether we want to invest said effort -here- on -your- server.
I have never read such nonsense. I've come close to it, but this takes the cake.
What is elitism?
An ID and shipline all to yourself and damn everyone else here, including previous AI factions and any one that came afterwards.
A sense of entitlement, still clearly evident in the fact that you are blaming everyone else for the fact that a faction lost officialdom even though it had an ID that it had more freedom than any other one here (except maybe a terrorist one.)
A (disproportionate) sense of one's own importance.
Your main grievance is that we wouldn't allow your faction to try to control an ID and a shipline that was without a home for the sake of it. You were arguing for control of the ID before the ink on your faction approval had dried. That kind of attitude is far too prevalent here already.
Consult the faction? That was part of the bloody problem... (edit: By which I mean, nothing seems to satisfy some people.)
From what I can see, you've most likely spent more time arguing for the ID to be just as you wanted it rather than actually doing what other folks do and playing the game. Reference your recent failure to generate thirty hours of gameplay in a month. That was all our fault too, I guess. Just as making folks claim bounties led to the demise of the MM and the Reavers and VPS and a whole slew of other generic factions. (edit: by which I mean, freely available and generic ID factions function with pretty restrictive IDs.)
I doubt that IDs affect faction activity. If you have a ID of your own, a shipline of your own, a RP of your own, you could still fade away.
Why should I have to repeat myself? The ID is open. The shipline is open. The ID needs tweaking. It is a generic faction. That means we'll try to come up with something that allows as many people as possible roleplay without having to listen to the dictats of a few players who seem to want to exercise control for the sake of it. The main consideration will be a fair server for all, not fair for a handful of people.
