I've been looking for a specific sound file in Freelancer.
The one that says 'Incoming Missile'.
I want to put it on my phone to use for incoming text messages.
The problem is, no matter how hard I look, I can't seem to find the file in question.
I've checked the various sound files in the Freelancer directory and it doesn't seem to be there.
All manner of other sounds are there though, from radio chatter, death screams, clicks, clunks, various beeps and engine to the various menu sounds, those are easy to find.
I just spent half an hour previewing every sound file in my Freelancer install.
Can't find it.

' Wrote:\Freelancer\DATA\AUDIO\SOUNDS\UI\ui_incoming_missile.wav - beeps for closing of missle
about sound of "inncomming missle" itself I belive that this sound is not play from a music file - but by PC - similar as .vbs files.
Yeah, I know about that one, but the 'beep beep' noise is kinda generic.
I'm thinking about using sounds from Freelancer for my phone, as I'm getting tired of hearing a phone go off and then after rushing to drag it out of where I have it, finding that it's not mine ringing.
It almost inevitable that whatever ring tone you are using, someone else has the same thing.
Some of the guys I used to work with had a ring tone specific to their wives mobile phone number.
Their phone would go off to the sounds of "WARNING! WARNING! IT'S THE WIFE! IT'S THE WIFE!" done in the voice of 'Robby the Robot' from 'Lost in Space'.
It was a laugh at first, but after a while most of the blokes at work had it.
At least with Freelancer stuff, it's not very likely that every second person is going to have it as a ringtone. :D

Good to know that other people around the globe have the same idea for their mobile phones:D
You should try to browse the ...\Freelancer\DATA\AUDIO\SOUNDS\UI folder, especially
- ui_new_story_objective.wav
- ui_gain_level.wav
- ui_typing_characters.wav
are quite suitable for ringing tones (call or SMS tones)! ;)
To your original request:
You can use the UTF Editor 2.0 to listen to the sounds like in the "nnvoice.utf" file ... and find out that there was way more intended for Freelancer than you'd think of;)
