I gave it a chance earlier, came up against other KV-1's, JagdPanther and a few Panthers. Damage varies from bounces (Panther front, so doesn't bother met here), I hit a KV-1 square on the side armour at a near 90 degree, 38 damage. Was kind of irritated, fired again and it went up to about 150, killing him. So true damage potential there is unknown.
Came up against a JagdPanther front on but I was hull down in a good spot manage to grind him down, and what was funny the enemy Panther was prectically parked right next to it, so sometimes I'd hit the Panther side armour and because its left is so close to the TD, would damage it also! I was laughing.
After a few shots I hit the Panther square in the tracks, de-tracking him AND the parked JagdPanther:lol: That was delicious.
While the damage potential is high, GETTING that top end is rare. I'd love to have the perk letting me see what module damage I'm doing to get a better idea. I'm very close to getting it with the Chaffee so I'll learn whether its a waste or not.
So far the 122mm hasn't been as terrible as it was, but its sheer reload time still leaves more to be desired to me.
Ok we are getting the 122MM's confused. You are talking the short 122MM DERP gun, but i was talking the long 122MM on the KV1s as in top gun. See pic. left is KV 122MM DERP, the right is top 122MM on KV1s.
So comparing the 122MM DERP is no contest against T29 105MM.
' Wrote:As for the PzIV, not got all the guns yet, I'm considering not upgrading to the second turret so I'm more able to fight up close. Due to the matches I've been placed it, things are going to eat me anyway. Not to mention I hate how the second turret looks, I adore the look of a the medium barrel PzIV with stock turret.:)
Fully upgrade the PzIV with the schmalturm. Turns into a very good sniper, which can regularly stomp E8s.
My record with the PzIV is 5 (however I only played it as a noob).
If you want to brawl, get the PzIII/IV. Much better side armour (and possibly frontal armour (60mm slope vs 70 flat)) and speed. My record in the PzIII/IV is 8.
Edit: Oh and thanks for the advice regarding the T29 vs KV-1S, people. I'll be getting the T29.

the IS series are beasts. (apart from the normal IS) they bounce pretty much everything you can throw at them and lo and behold, they got buffed again:P(side armor above tracks)
the T54 and Type 59 are still a nightmare. Fast and agile like a light tank, with armor that bounces like a heavy tank. And please dont start on their 'weak spots' which happily bouce up to 105mm shots with a 90 degree angle.
the T50 and T50-2. seriously? a go-cart with a chaingun that can take up to 3 hard hits? whereas its USA equivalant (Stuart) explodes after 1 shot, 2 at most. oh, and lets not forget the T50 and T50-2 can bouce 90mm AP on the BACK of their turrets at app. 15m range. That didnt happen to me once, but regularly. Im sure thats my fault as well 0_o.
Dont get me started on French tanks...
and I consider bad MM when my pershing gets dropped in fights where the 'smallest' tank is a Tiger II. and this happens quite often. being surrounded by (several) E-100, Maus, T30 etc and packs of the beloved T54 Nuclear Bunker With Rocket Propulsion.
Maybe they'll fix it but as it stands, the Pershing is boned. Or Im just really, really unlucky but I doubt it.
I play since the end of the closed beta, and i consider it to be irrelevant to this discussion, as much as what russian tanks were back then. We are discussing what russian tanks are now.
The IS is not that bouncy, and they all have the ammo rack on the front. They have raw damage, but lack accuracy, with average reload time. None of them got buffed but the IS8, that needed the buff.
The T54 was nerfed so many times that i can only laugh at people calling it OP. Just track it and the front armor won't be a problem. Same for the T59, people complain about their front armor just because they don't know where to aim, and assume the lower plate is the weakest one. it isn't. The fact you claim the T59 to be fast just tell me you know nothing about the tank. This is not a problem with the tank, but with the player who fights them that need to adapt and not just follow the routine of shooting the lower plate.
As for the T-50, it's part of the new generation of scout tanks, the Stuart isn't. On The T-50-2 we agree, and in fact it will be removed.
So far, the so called OP line counts one OP tank, the T-50-2. Random bounces happens all the time, with all tanks. The issue on aiming at close range is related to the ping and the position of the server crossair compared to the player crossair. No one can do anything about it.
I won't talk about french tanks because even if i did try them enough, i don't play them regulary.
The Pershing, however, is an awesome tank, and i don't see why you consider fighting against tier 10 tanks as a problem. You are not supposed to win always, or to be the strongest tank, and you are not supposed to fight heavier tanks from the front. You have enough penetration to get rid of them by flanking and then shooting at their sides/back, which is pretty much what medium tanks are supposed to do compared to the gameplay of heavy tanks.
Besides, what i really want to know is, how many russian tanks do you own? Especially the ones you are so strongly against and claim to be OP.
Fletcher, you had no luck using the 85mm on the KV-1? I found it to be more fitting on a slow tank as the KV-1 is, and the 57mm fitting better the T-34.
A significant change to the lighting of all maps. In addition, there will be small visual improvements to all of the game maps. The following maps will be significantly improved in the upcoming update (game graphics will continue to improve from one update to the next):
Himmelsdorf
Mines
Lakeville
Sand River
Cliffs
Fjords
Mountain Pass
Arctic Region
Westfield
I'm a long time user of every 122mm cannon variant the Russian tree has. Almost all my game time is spent knowing the average reload of this caliber. Agreed the KV-1s has the worst oldest variant of the 122mm cannon that takes forever to reload because the ammo for that back then was a two piece system. But in it's tier I really enjoyed that cannon. I'm all the way up to the IS4 with the Tier X 122mm super accurate high penetrating cannon which is also on my IS8. The line that starts with the KV1s all the way down to the IS7 are really fast heavys moving at around 50km/h but with less armour then the other line. Use those fast heavies to go with and support the medium wolf pack. They are fast enough....
They've ruined tier 1 battles. Now my poor old MS-1 and its crew (it has a GLD, vents and a binocular telescope) constantly faces tier II tank destroyers. I still manage to get an average of 3 kills per battle, however there is no way a tier I tank can survive a 76mm HE fired by the AT 1. Simply told they have taken the fun out of it.
Teir 1's always faced tier 2 tanks, and TDs. I see no difference. Also that AT1 with 75MM DERP is very in-accurate. Just do not sit still near it.
I like the new MM. So far i have got no 5-6 tier spreads like in the past, but then i have only played a few games so far in 7.5.
