The Gallic Royal Navy was formed shortly after the crippled French sleeper ship reached Ile-de-France in 84 A.S. In the beginning, the main agenda of the Gallic Royal Navy was space exploration and searching for the other sleeper ships of the former Alliance. With the passage of time and the isolation of Gallia, as well as space flight becoming accessible to many groups and corporations, including criminals, the Gallic Royal Navy switched to internal security tasks. However, they continued to maintain a large number of capital ships and several research projects determined to create superior ships and weapons in case war with the other Houses ever occurred. Today, the Gallic Royal Navy is a powerful military force that can counter any threat to the Crown inside or outside the borders of Gallia.
The Gallic Royal Navy has been fighting a long war with Gallic rebels known as the Council. Since 748 A.S, the war wages on over the misguided idea that the Royalist policy of isolation and preparation for total war is detrimental to Gallia and that the current government is oppressive and corrupt. The war ended for a time, but the rebellion that started in 794 A.S. on the planet Marne is universally considered the beginning of the Second Gallic War, a struggle that continues to this day.
Soldiers of the King securing a foothold on Planet Quillan, during the Crown's assault on Languedoc in 818 A.S.
The current long range goal of the Royal Navy is a war to end all wars against the other former Alliance Houses, although Bretonia and Liberty are the main focus of the Crown's ire. The Royal Navy has been moving forward almost non-stop building ships, researching military technology, gathering intelligence, stealing technology, and training new recruits to make war. This ultimate goal, however, was put on hold by the Council when they managed to capture the Languedoc system, break through the mine fields there and in Lorraine, and make first contact with the other Sirius Houses. This unfortunate event on the one side, made Gallia's presence known to the rest of Sirius earlier then planned, but on the other side essentially started the Gallic invasion of the Taus systems in 818 A.S.
Within a short period of time the overwhelming Gallic Forces conquered the Tau systems. The Kusari Naval Forces were the first to suffer under the sheer amount of Gallic power, losing most of the Imperial Fleet in the process and essentially forcing Kusari to surrender. The next to experience the Royal invasion were the inhabitants of the Colonial Republic, which had to be evacuated from Tau 44 when it fell under Gallic control.
Soon after establishing a stable presence in the Tau systems the Royal Navy continued its march into Bretonia, conquering the system of Edinburgh and taking over most of Leeds. The final attack on the Bretonian capital appears to be scheduled within the next year, as Royal Navy forces prepare to end the Leeds resistance and capture the system totally.
La Convention de Nommage- Naming Convention
All vessels flying under the flag of the Royal Navy's primary fleet are required to identify themselves with a Gallic Royal Navy ID and a transponder emitting a Gallic Royal Navy IFF. Further, they must to the following naming rules:

The Gallic Royal Navy is currently led by Grand Maréchal Grant LeRoux.
Maréchal
Second only to the Grand Maréchal herself, the Maréchal is a prestige title given to a Général who has proven him or herself worthy of this esteemed and revered position. In practice, the Maréchal is equal in rank to a Général, but only the very best can ever be awarded this title.
The title is held by Maréchale Lucie LeBlanc.

Officiers subalternes- Junior officers Capitaine
A Capitaine typically leads fighter or bomber wings. Many Capitaines operate as the captain of a Perilous-class gunboat, being experienced enough by now to lead a crew of this size into battle.
The backbone of the Gallic Navy, Lieutenants are hand-picked from the vast ranks of Sous-Lieutenants as pilots who have shown exceptional initiative or skill. They often lead small squadrons of snubcraft, but are still low on the chain of command.
Sous-Lieutenants make up the majority of the Navy's personnel. They operate as fighter and bomber pilots or capital ship crewmen.
Sous-Lieutenants: Narcisse Devoudelle, Danny Nielsen, Heather Pearson, Guy Josselyne, Celice Sylvianne
Aspirant
Newly drafted into the Gallic Royal Navy, Aspirants are essentially trainees, fresh-faced and ready to fight and die for the Crown. They must prove both their dedication and ability to advance further in the Navy and become a full Sous-Lieutenant of the Crown's elite fighting force.
By decree of former Grande Maréchale Lacroix, with the approval of the Royal Crown of the Kingdom of Gallia, the orders hereby issued are to be acknowledged and followed and enforced by every man and woman in the Gallic Royal Navy.

The star sector where the Gallic settlers once arrived, home to the Crown, the Gallic population and the King's Royal Navy. Where the Royal Police is overstrained or understaffed, it's the Royal Navy's task to tackle domestic threats, bring peace back to the Gallic borderworlds and guarantee the safety of Gallia's citizens and trade.
Systèmes conquis par la Marine Royale Gauloise- Systems conquered by the GRN
Systems (8): Edinburgh, Leeds, Lewis, Orkney, Tau-23, Tau-29, Tau-31, Tau-44
After the begin of the Gallic invasion and the defeat of the Kusari Naval Forces, the lower Taus were the first systems to fall into the hands of the Royal Navy. While local forces subdue minor opposition of remaining groups, these systems now serve as supply lines for the ongoing war in Bretonia.
Pilots intending to travel into Tau-29 must be aware of the Tau Decree.
Systèmes contrôlés par entités neutres- Systems under control of neutral entities
Systems (10): Hokkaido, Honshu, Kyushu, Nagano, New Tokyo, Omega-49, Rishiri, Shikoku, Tau-37, Tau-39
These systems are controlled by neutral entities and considered to be of low priority for the operations of the Royal Navy. Conflicts are left to be resolved by the locals, unless they pose a danger to Gallic interests in aforementioned or adjacent systems.
Pilots intending to travel into Kyushu must be aware of the Tau Decree.
Systèmes ennemis contestés par la Couronne Gauloise- Contested systems
Systems (9): Baffin, Champagne, Dublin, Dundee, Magellan, Manchester, Newcastle, New London, Omicron-80
The frontlines of the Gallic war, which can be divided into the southwards conquest of Bretonian space, and the efforts to liberate the Champagne system from Council forces. Frequent attacks conducted by the Royal Navy strain the local defenses and facilitate the slow but steady push into hostile territory.
While Omicron-80 is not a frontier for one of the Crown's wars, the Royal Navy is alert for any unauthorised activity close to or inside the system's minefield, and guards the Lorraine border vigilantly.
Systèmes sous contrôle par ennemis- Systems under hostile control
Systems (7): California, Cambridge, Coronado, Cortez, Omicron-81, Omicron Alpha, Poole
These systems are home to forces at war with the Gallic Crown, many of which the Royal Navy plans to defeat and conquer during their push into Sirius. Special operations conducted here primarily include strikes against enemy supply lines. Only the Crown's bravest pilots dare to enter this space, and only the best return.
Systèmes observés sans connexion connu- Observed systems without known connections
Observations of the night sky have continuously disclosed numerous nearby star systems, often desolate or concealed by nebulae, and originally estimated to be of little use to the Gallic Crown. As an incongruity between the Council's strength and its known resources becomes more likely, the Royal Navy has increased efforts in searching for stable jump connections to make travel to these systems feasible, and hopes to uncover previously unknown supplies.

Navires de combat de la Marine Royale Gauloise- Fightercraft XJ-1 "Caracal" Gallic Royal Navy Light Fighter
★★★★★★★★
Generally used by the recruits and riff-raff of the Gallic Royal Navy, the Caracal is easily replaced and discarded, making it perfect for use during training.
Used by the somewhat 'advanced' recruits, the Serval has that little extra bit of armour capable of protecting its pilot, possibly delivering him or her straight into the ranks of the Gallic Royal Navy.
The sword and the shield of the Gallic Royal Navy, this ship is used by Royal Guards and combat troops alike; the Lynx is the pinnacle of Gallic fighter construction.
Where as the Lynx is the sword and shield, the Cougar is the hammer, designed specifically to take down hostile capital ships, domestic and foreign alike.
Although Aspirants are generally not permitted to commission a Cougar-class vessel for personal use right away, in emergencies involving heavy enemy capital presence any and all snubcraft pilots of the Royal Navy on duty are encouraged and required to take up helm at one of these noble vessels.
Navires capitaux de la Marine Royale Gauloise- Capital Ships "Perilous" Gallic Royal Navy Gunboat
★★★★★★★★
While this gunboat is designed as a support ship rather than a brutality vessel, the Perilous is indeed in a grave danger to all enemies, whether alone or supporting the fleet.
Commanded by Capitaines and above. Special permission may be requested by a Lieutenant.
Vessels in active service: RNS Quimper, RNS Honeslayer, RNS Clamecy, RNS Ys
The Obstinate is the soul of the Gallic Royal Navy. With both amazing offensive and defensive capabilities, the Obstinate is seen throughout the entire Kingdom of Gallia.*
* Editor's note: It's actually quite awful.
Commanded by Commandants and above. Special permission may be requested by a Capitaine. although nobody would want to fly one of these anyway
Vessels in active service: RNS La Rochelle, RNS Mont Blanc, RNS Auxerre, RNS Majestueux
The iron fist of the Gallic Royal Navy, the Valor is the pinnacle of capital ship evolution in the entire Sirius Sector. With superior weapons, advanced armor, an excellent power plant and a crew of the most veteran captains in Gallic space, the Valor is truly a force to be reckoned with.
Commanded by Colonels and above. Special permission may be requested by a Commandant.
Vessels in active service: RNFS Chant du Cygne, RNS Valenciennes, RNS Villefranche, RNS Villeneuve II, RNS Saint-Nazaire, RNS Vauquelin, RNS Royal Vauquelin
Navires de Soutien Logistique de la Marine Royale Gauloise- Logistic Support Vessels "Aurochs" Gallic Freighter
★★★★★★★★
This popular Gallic freighter, successful thanks to its speed and reliability, is the workhorse of the Royal Navy's logistics division and excels in medium-range shipping and atmospheric transit.
Based on the qualities of the Perilous gunboat, the Taureau is a heavily armored transport that allows the Royal Navy to move entire companies of assault troops and important shipments through dangerous space.
With its expansive cargo capacity and excellent reliability record, the Vache is one of the largest Gallic transport vessels and the Royal Navy's choice for cost-efficient long-range shipping throughout Gallia and the Crown's territories.
