[font=Agency fb][color=#FFFFFF]Now, this thread will probably get a lock, but I'll just go ahead and try anyway.
Recently, there was something saying the old SRP system was not satisfactory. If I could get a clarification on how exactly that was so, I'd be delighted.
And the big matter now. Why exactly is the SRP -COMPLETELY- closed without any exceptions (yes, I know it's temporary but NOONE may apply for it)? Are admins afraid of unique-ness? Do tell, why is it that the tech chart is so damned strict? Why exactly can't a ship be granted to a red cell? Even sold? Tell me, why can't, for example, a Junker own a Valkyrie, even though there are clearly more than enough Valkyrie wrecks to salvage and take blueprints from in Sigma-13? Is it some sort of shot at the fact that people are so stupid they can't steal blueprints from something that's obviously been tossed aside? Please, share your wisdom.
Was the SRP too loose? Cause if so, do give examples. I can't remember any SRP character acting stupid or somewhere AWAY from his story, ever. Nor can I recall any SRP characters pulling schemes just to get the best weapon loadouts on their ships. Do please explain this to me. And the rest of the community, while you're at it.
This is in no way a shot at the admins' authority, only a plea for explanation. I've searched for the whole day for a thread which gives an explanation for SRP closure (a CONCRETE one, mind you, not just "we did it because of cheese and military music"), and I found zilch. Now, either I'm too daft to find one, in which case I apologize for wasting forum space and plea for a link to the thread, or there just isn't a valid explanation, in which case, do provide one.
I'm not sure what to make of Athenian defending the Phantoms tooth and nail when I inquired about re-making them (nor does this thread have anything to do with it, since it doesn't qualify as SRP), but I get the overall feeling that the Admins are too control-freakish.
Trolls, firebugs, TL;DR : Don't bother posting. Please purge the thread with holy fire of any troll or flame post.
Sucks to be a weight on the wrong side of the brilliance-insanity scale.

I would rather say they're afraid of jealousy and things like that. Someone gets approved, someone doesn't bad feelings and all that.
And as they said it, its time consuming. I believe them. Ever tried reading someone's story on 5-6 pages ?, I did it maybe twice. I usually go only for pretty pictures.

[font=Agency fb][color=#FFFFFF]Afraid of jealousy? What? If someone writes a good story, then they get approved. They write a bad one, one full of nonsense, something void? They get shot down. It makes the very good stand out, and the rest to strive for being very good.
Time consuming, pah. There's a LOT of members here. And I refuse to believe there isn't a non-biased person that the Admins could set as someone to review and approve/decline SRP's (one person would be enough, if you want SRP, you sure as hell better be ready to WAIT for it). There's a million ways to resolve "time-consuming", yet they went for the ultimate one.

Good story can be rejected as well. I hope SRP's aren't made in manner - great story, your SRP is approved. It needs to be darn special to get something unique, with alot of time put into it. There are great stories with alot of time put into them....yes, people would get jealous. Its in our nature.

There are couple of non biased people around...shame they don't have as much time. If they did, they would get biased.
It's not a matter of bias. Or maybe it is. People apply and make it, people apply and don't, the people who don't wonder why the people who did make it made it...
Then they start asking why. Loudly. They feel entitled. There's no transparency to the systems, the admins do it all in the invisible subforum.
People start to cry when others get granted privileges for better toys in-game, which leads to devs nerfing/buffing certain ships, guns, factions, etc.
It used to be this was an easy-going community where you could do whatever you want within reason and it was fine. Then the above happened, and for the sake of being fair and impartial the admins made the SRPs, and that still failed to satisfy some so they made it so you get what you get.
A tale of human imperfection, thank you, thank you.
So all in all, the SRP are closed just because people are douchebags who can't accept the fact their story is just NOT good enough to get cleared for SRP? God damnit, I feel sorry for those people. I honestly do. Sorry if I'm stepping out of line here.

Uhm it's more than that, Somni. People who right very GOOD stories got rejected to. It was like a lottery: time of day, speed of processing, who looked at your story, what mood they were in. Yeah i'll pass on that.
Besides, everyone wants to be "unique." A line must be drawn somewhere.
The real problem with looking at stories and determining which are good and which are bad is that everyone thinks theirs is good, everyone thinks they should be given special permission, everyone thinks they have put enough time into their story to be approved.
When they don't get what they think they deserve, they yell and yell and yell and we end up with threads like that recent one about Corsair tech use. People are always going to think they deserve what they want.
I will end with my favorite Dusty Lens quote which is very on point for this topic.
"The juice just aint worth the squeeze."
