“Killing me won’t bring back the thousands I massacred!”
-Adeline Verne before she was beheaded at the guillotine.
What we Are
The Maquis’ first debut was marked by the Massacre du Commencement, a series of explosions throughout major Gallic cities that claimed the lives of over 2,000 people. The true shock and awe in response to this display was demonstrated by the Council itself, which disowned the organization and forced them to relocate from their bases and planets. Oddly enough, there was no real bad blood between the factions, and they maintained a solid alliance to fight the Royalist’s regime.
The Maquis, left to their vices, became a terrorist organization that used its methods and new-found wealth to assist the Council and the various unlawful groups of Gallia. Deals were struck and technology was exchanged as mutual goals and methods unfolded. The methods of the Maquis broadened as they took up acts of piracy and smuggling along with their terrorism on civilian and military targets. Their acts of rebellion through contemptible means evolved into a method for gaining money quickly and easily. Thus, greed and the desire to bring down the Royalists by any means necessary has evolved the Maquis into the organization it is today.
This is Why we Fight
The Maquis operate on a rather simple system: If it can explode, then it must explode. If it’s Royalist, then it needs to explode. The Maquis are not ones to hold back when it comes to their cause. One person? Ten people? A hundred? Even if it takes a thousand to make a point, the Maquis will gladly gun them down. Through destruction of key political or strategical points, the Maquis act like scalpel, slicing into the most precise areas to do the most damage. The only problem is that this scalpel is serrated and does unnecessary damage.
When a Valor explodes and the resulting explosion takes out the civilian repair ships and freighters nearby, the only group to look on in horror are the Royalists and the Council. Buildings that fall over onto schools and hospitals are best described by the musings of one drunk Maquis: "And not a single damn that day was given."
The King is a monster and his subjects are brainwashed fools whose only deliverance is through death. Any captured Royalist combatants are most likely to be tortured and then brutally executed. Civilians who are not a part of the death count of an operation will most likely be forcefully inducted into the Maquis.
Another goal of the organization is the use of its neighbors to fight the Crown. The Maquis believe that the hatred of the Royalists can be harnessed and utilized to unite the four organizations into a decent force. Split agendas and methods are the only hindrances to the Maquis's grand scheme.
Primary goal:
The Downfall of the Crown and its followers.
Secondary goal:
Uniting Gallic unlawfuls against the Crown.

-Common graffiti found in the more 'slum-like' areas of Gallic cities. The simple yet discernible colors and design serve as a wordless tribute to the Maquis and their rather laid-back attitudes towards what they do. Those who leave this mark use it as a ward of a sort to discourage bombings in their communities.
Those you Respect
The rank structure of the Maquis spawned off as a joke. During a conversation amongst the high command, it was wittily stated that, “There is no jail that can hold us, for we already live in a jail that we’ve created for ourselves.” The leading members and those who followed them were then referred to as criminals and members of the police system. A common phrase among the Maquis is, “The only way to free ourselves is to free Gallia.”
The Old Guard:
The remnants of the military group who organize and manage espionage within the Maquis. Highly trained and skilled, these men and women hold more respect than they do authority.
Warden:
The head of the operations; Leads by example instead of sitting behind a desk. A figurehead of the Maquis whose service record and experience make them invaluable to the cause.
Garde:
The right hand men of the Warden. More often than not, they are organizing their own plans and missions.
The newly recruited and non-military ranks of the Maquis are referred to as Maquisards. Due to their criminal and hostile nature, they are referred to and refer to themselves as prisoners within their own ranks. The gesture is friendly and outsiders who refer to them in such a way are often beaten or killed.

I told Shagohad over Skype that I wasn't going to compete, and I was myself, in the process of creating a Maquis group. However, I find no point in taking part in an epeen waving contest between any group, especially after the fallout that happened with the RdG and [C].
So, Shagohad, I support this, though frankly, that means nothing considering my reputation. Have fun.
I am interested in whether Maquis can/will pirate IMG in the Taus, since that happened (indie player) yesterday and I was gently surpirsed.
I'd be glad to see the diplomacy clarified in your post.... not only with regard to IMG but all Sirian factions that you likely have contact with (basically the Tau inhabitants).
I'm going on a first-contact basis. Nothing is set in stone until we meet and witness the group for ourselves. The Maquis are going to be mistrusting and hesitant about Sirians. So expect passive aggressive approaches.

This... what is this, you monster?! :angry2:
Anyway, the rest is okay. I like and support you. I wish you good luck.
