Does more damage.
Mounted on a Torpedo mount.
Fires slower.
Reaches a bit farther.
Uses a fair amount of energy.
And a light version,
Fires a smidgen faster.
Mounted on CD slot.
Uses less energy.
Shorter range.
Deals less damage.
One effected with Light Fighters, One effective with Heavy and Very heavy fighters. Doesn't use ammo, but uses a decent amount of energy.

I guess you could say its something like the Swarm used to be, without the homing, or the 2 second wait for it to launch, or the 'uberness' that got it removed...

Something like this, may work, of course. A CD Slot based gun would have to be very weak though, maybe 3000 damage or require more power than an Arrow interceptor has, or you could have groups of these guys taking down caps.
Personally though, the way things are are fine, Mini Razors can hardly scratch anything higher than a Gunboat and the big guns of course are restricted to bombers. But, a gun like this may put my interest back into light fighters again...
3000 damage was not in my plans. This weapon isn't supposed to exactly be a finishing weapon, but to deal damage. 1.5 refire, 500 EP per shot, and maybe around 1000 to 1200 hull damage per shot? Makes a fighter more attack-driven, and not a Mini-Bomber. With my experiences with Light Fighters I don't think that a VHF version would be very helpful on a LF, as it would use too much energy to be truly effective. Thats why I suggested a CD and Torp form. One is suited for VHF's, One is suited for LF's. And since hardly any LF's have torpedo slots, It seemed like a good idea at the time.
