Fleet Admiral David Hale and his high command's objective of breaking through into the Bremen system was being severely hampered by the presence of the mighty Rheinland Battleship Westphalia. Near unbreakable shielding and an astonishing array of weapons made this ship a formidable defensive barrier against Hale's forces.
Unwilling to risk the Battleship Concord in a direct confrontation, Hale and his high command decided to send a small taskforce through the jumphole in order to disable some of the Westphalia's weaponry systems, and damage the battleship's impressive shield generators. A taskforce assembled in the texas system, and prepared to assault the Rheinland line.
Secrecy was of the utmost importance, as any hint of this attack getting out, and the Rheinland Military would move reinforce the fleet in the area, rendering any attempt at attacking Westphalia nearly impossible. Perparations were made in secret, with only the highest ranking members of the Navy's command structure aware of the purpose of the buildup in Texas.
However...

Rheinland
[color=#33CC00]Rheinland's Buro Der Marineintelligenz network of spy satalites had been gathering data, unknown to the Liberty forces, for some time. Unable to send the data back via standard communication channels, for fear of the transmissions being intercepted by the Liberty Security Force, the Buro Der Marineintelligenz were forced into doing regular and extremely risky incursions into Liberty space in order to retrive the data in hard-copy form.
The small satalites, positioned in the Texas system had gathered data on the buildup of forces in the Texas system and eavesdropped on their communication for a little over a week. The regular BMD force was being assembled to gather the data, not knowing this mission would be a little more risky than most. The small force consisting of three Ragnar freighters containing the equipment required for maintenance of the satalites and data retrieval, along with a small escort of fighter craft set out from the Battleship Westfalen in Hamburg...

Part 1 - Prelude

[RM-MND], BDM| and invited independants.
The small Buro Der Marineintelligenz taskforce moved into the Texas system. Unknown to them, the Liberty Security Force were already scanning the area more frequently than normal, in accordance with the increased security around the buildup in the Texas system.
These regular security sweeps had already proved useful. Three distinct contact signatures had been found, and were believed to be spy satalites operated by the BDM. The LSF were preparing to send forces to pinpoint these contacts, which had been impossible to pinpoint, although they had been isolated to three areas.
This event starts as the BDM force enters the Texas system. The BDM force will be composed as follows.
Wraith Very Heavy Fighter x4 (depending on turnout)
Ragnar Rheinland Armored Transport x3 (required)
The BDM are required to move a Ragnar to each of the spy satalites in turn. These spy satalites will be camera ships. They must stay there for two minutes, in order to complete whatever maintenance needs doing, and to retrieve the hardcopy data.
The data must then be transported back to the Battleship Westfalen in Hamburg. The BDM will know the exact locations of the spy satalites.
The LSF force will consist of the following.
Guardian or Avenger VHF x6 (depending on turnout)
The LSF's objective is to find the spy satalites, and destroy any Ragnar armoured transports they encounter. They may chase any BDM ships into rheinland space if required. The LSF will only know the rough area in which the spy satalites are located, and may not camp jumpholes and gates, meaning they must actively search.
Resolution and outcomes of Part 1
BDM total victory -
All hardcopy data retrieved and landed safely on the Battleship Westfalen. Rheinland forces will analyse the data, and will have an advantage in Part 2 of this event.
BDM partial victory -
Only some data is retrieved. The Rheinland forces will only have partial and sketchy intelligence to work on for part 2 of this event, and thus the event will be evenly balanced.
LSF victory -
The BDM fail to retrieve any of the hardcopy data from the satalites. As a result they will have no knowlege of the upcoming attack, and will not be prepared. The Liberty Navy will have the advantage in part 2 of this event.
Notes:
- Time and date for this event have not yet been set. They can be arranged for whenever suits both sides of this event, so if the respective faction leaders and so on could post when they're available, and we'll make a decision based on that.
- I know there are no maps for this event as yet, and they're kinda required. I will be creating those and editing them into the post tonight.
- I have already talked to Lobster and Kingvaillant about this idea, and they are both interested.
- This event is the precursor to part 2, which will consist of an attack into the Bremen system by the Liberty Navy. I will be posting the details of that event either tonight or tomorrow.
