Came across an interesting situation recently while in one of my warships.

A large Transport (5k) was 'hanging' or 'parked' at an intersection of trade lanes.
They had a full load on board.

The interesting part, was that an enterprising Pirate was using the defenses of the nearby stations to drop the Transports shields by hiding behind the transport.

I had no doubt that the Pirate would have continued to use the stations defenses to whittle away the hull as well.

I called up the transport and there was no reaction.
After doing that, I warned the Pirate off, who then went on their merry way.

I sat there calling up the Transport every now and again and when the ship did finally move, I called them and let them know what had almost happened.

Trader Pilots and others, let it be known that 'parking' your ship in a location like that does not mean you will be safe!

If you *must* take a break, get thee to a docking port!

Seriously, if you have to be away from the keyboard for more than a few minutes, go and dock, then get off the server.

At the time this happened, the server was at about half capacity, so there would not have been any problem getting back on.

Probably because shooting the hell out of someone who is obviously AFK is a low act. As opposed to the station killing thing which is funny and inventive.

But yeah pretty damn stupid of the transport to park right in an intersection. Cross-fire from a navy patrol can really hurt.

Stealing somebody's car is a low act even when it's parked unlocked with ignition on and yet we lock cars.

I would probably shoot it just to save the owner trouble in the future. Call it a free lesson.
