In other 'happy "whatever" day' threads that get locked, it's because the idiot trolls come out & ruin them.
This thread has yet to be overrun by those who type faster than they think, hence why it's not locked.
Eh... I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to disagree with ya Burg. I've seen threads that only the first post was posted and mods have locked them as soon as they saw it. If you or someone else doesn't want to lock it, that's fine but don't expect me to shove my head in the ground.

It this assuming that their decision to do so was fundamentally correct? The issue of right or wrong in a theoretical sense doesn't include the actions of individuals, which is what moderators are; they aren't impartial, infallible entities after all.

One moderator is expected to represent the moderator team using the principles and fundamentals they were founded on. When one moderator's decision contradicts another moderator's decision, there's a problem

So when was it established that those "immediate locks" reflected the "principles and fundamentals" you speak of? Why hasn't this topic been locked yet if such a contradiction doesn't exist? Surely several mods and admins have seen this topic by now.

There, politics and racism. Lock the thread.
That's no different from me saying something about folks of a certain color and a large circular fruit of another color. I've seen plenty of threads locked because a mod thought it had a chance of devolving into a debate, and though this thread might not turn into flaming about American anything, it'll turn into a discussion about the validity of locking these threads. A perfect example of why it ought to be locked.

Exactly. So then someone is at fault either way. Thank you for elaborating on my posts.
everything was going fine in the thread, all smooth with a few light jokes, little protest & no politics, arguments or drama...it was just one of those threads where all all they did was say "Hey! happy holiday."--"Hey, not American, but happy holiday right back atcha, you overweght firebrand, you...Here; have a grape."
...Then...
...It happened...
...The uninvited opinion creature from the Nawyew Lagoon found the thread...
Yes! Happy fourth, Shago. I lit off all the fireworks that I had been saving for about four years tonight. Had been just stock piling the leftovers from previous years so that I could use them either on the 4th, or on New Year's.
Roman Candles, lots of fountains and ground bloomers, and a pair of fireworks that explode in the sky. Here's to you, Shago: Show the American patriotism in the foreign country for all us here in the States!
oops...forgot to hit the lock on the political thread that only became political when it was noted that it lacked the very politics that elevated it into the political lockbait it was accused of being.
Meh. it's the 5th anyway.
