A generic Pirate IFF.

If you can have a generic "Freelancer" IFF, then wouldn't it be reasonable to have a generic "Pirate" IFF?

Actual implementation is not as important (at first).

Discuss; why or why not.

It would remove the need to use IDs as RP devices.
But, yes, it could work too.

I just feel that a Pirate IFF is more suitable for a Pirate ID than a Freelancer IFF with a Pirate ID.

Edit: this only working for the Pirate ID.

No IFF is perfectly legitimate and if you don't like screwing up your repsheet, don't kill NPCs.

Hello Mr. Hale as you can see on my IFF I am brainless pirate which will rob that transport over there when you will look other way. You are freely to engage me since I as lacking intelectual capabilities pimped my Falcata with IFF yelling "I am pirate!". Also I am giving out free tickets on "You are a pirate" concert!

As much as I object to people flying FL IFF ships with a pirate ID, it is fair to do it.

Having a 'pirate' IFF would be like having a sign on your car that tells the police that you like to street race.

A player with an Pirate IFF would have every lolcop in the area after them.

As I've said, while I don't like the FL IFF/Pirate ID combo, there isn't a whole heck of a lot I can do about it but be wary of FL IFF'd ships until I know otherwise.

An IFF is like the flag over a ship, it lets others Identify it as Friend or Foe. A ship flying no flag is considered to be a pirate ship.

Using no IFF makes sense, and it makes it more of a covert ship. But for larger pirate ships, it wouldn't make sense to not have an IFF, even if the transponder is low-powered to decrease recognition range.

Come on, you know you want to wear an eye patch and fly the Jolly Roger.
