We are currently lacking a web-designer who actually knows how to do the web stuff. So, we are lacking a website until then.

Well, this thread has been posted over at the Lancersreactor.org some time ago, asking the members there what would they want to see in a modification for Freelancer. Developing something that will then not be played is a hard blow for a development team. A clear example of which are several past mods, of which I want to mention Itano Circus, developed by Brian Hernandez (AKA: Why485).

In short words today we posted this for the people here at Discovery, to see what are their dreams, their ideas and their suggestions. Our modding team might not be as big as that of Freeworlds: Tides of War, but we are experienced and have a valid motivation of going forward. Our community that keeps supporting us, on Skype and at TheLancersReactor.org. We cannot leave them down.


You'll be probably wondering what Continuum is. Continuum is a mod for Freelancer, it is currently being developed from June, but we are trying to keep our oath. An oath to impress the playerbase of Freelancer, and to get them immersed into a totally catastrophic universe. Space is dangerous, you won't be safe. If you cannot control your fate, it'll be the fate that will control you. Rheinland is facing a civil war, Liberty is having some serious issues within its territory, Bretonia is having a population decrease because of the environmental pollution, and Kusari saw Samura being turned over by the Hideyoshi's Royal Guard, the Dragons.

I'll avoid talking about other story elements. In the meanwhile, we are here to listen to your suggestions regarding various subjects. Posts that aren't constructive will be thoroughly ignored.

In this case you will notice the new cityscape for Planet Los Angeles, a mesh that still needs to be textured. The actual ads in the background are just a demo of what we are planning to do. Our ad-designer, Dorin Croitoru, will realize advertisments on factions, ships, miscellaneous items, and fictional things like beverages and movies.

This is an example of the new room meshes, that will replace the obnoxious vanilla meshes. As you can see, the entry point is on the left. You cannot go up on the stairs, it's just an aestethical idea that we had

Don't worry about the NPCs clipping through the chairs, since those chairs will get replaced.

Research Stations will look like actual research stations.

The main problem of these meshes and of the Development Team: The meshes are lacking textures until we find some capable texturers.

These suggestions need to regard the following:
- Mining System / How would you want the mining system to be?
- Commodity Items / What commodity items would you want to see?
- Ammo based ammunition / Kinetic Energy Blasters, firing mass.
- Bombers / What should the role a bomber be?
- Capitals / In Continuum they have their speed decreased to 50. Capitals larger than cruisers are restricted.
- Shipyards / Stations / Outposts / Suggestions?
- Wrecks / Wreck Hunting?
- Xenoarchaeology / Currently suggested by a TLR.org member. When mining in a nebula of the Edge Nebula or in some other asteroid field, you get a chance to retrieve some strange artifacts, that you can then sell to a collectioneer of said artifacts. This idea came long after the typical diffusion on a server of codename dealers.
- News / News each day? What would you want to see in the News section of a bar? Do you read it?
- Rooms / Rooms like a bar, commodity dealer or landing pad, do you pass your time on the surface of a planet or on the deck of a station, feeling safe, like at home? What would you want to see in the new custom developed rooms? (Enenra /TLR member suggested having ad boards advertising to the station's owner. Or other ads of fictional products that add a more in-depth feel)
- Combat vs Roleplay / Too much combat? Annoying roleplay? Roleplay to combat? What do you want to see?
- Events / Trading events, mining events, pirating events, who should organize these events?
- General Atmosphere / How do you want a space simulator to be? Unfriendly to the player, dark and misterious? If not, leave your suggestion.
- Weapons / What kind of weapons do you want to see?
- Ships / What kind of ship types you would like to see?
- Miscellaneous / What kind of other objects you would like to see? Like satellites, or storage tanks.
- FLHook/FLAC feature suggestions
- Rules vs Gameplay / Do you think that rules damage gameplay? I'm not saying that Continuum will be are rule-less environment with this.
- ID/IFF system / Regarding IDs and IFFs. What do you think about IDs? Are they really useful?
- Music & Sound / What genre do you listen? What genre do you want to listen in space? And in a bar?
- Trading System / Dynamic economy? Share your ideas, or join the Economical Development Team.

o Want to create an economy for Sirius? Are you good with Excel? The EDT will then hand the work to the modding team that will process the .csv data into the mod.
