I don't know about you guys, but that "United we stand, divided we fall" nonsense didn't help us during the ZA. Or the end of the CoZ. What it was absolutely successful at doing was making all Zoners pay for the mistakes of a select few.
So, short answer from me? "Nope."
Doc, I should remind you that all of us are responsible for the ratification of the Treaty of Bethlehem. Well, at least all of the Zoner leaders at the time; I was but a mere crewman in those days. Aurelia may have been the one to put her name on it, but she did so with the approval of her peers.
E. Tate, Transmission #2021 Wrote:i vote "yes" on both concepts
Aurelia Silvan, Transmission #2022 Wrote:The results of the vote;
Liberty Treaty: 11 Yes, 1 No
Bretonia Treaty: 8 Yes, 3 No
Both treaties have been passed, and a signing ceremony with both governments to make this official will happen shortly at Bethlehem Station.
As you can see, both documents went almost unopposed, although the clear majority that participated were in favor. Also, at the time, Silvan was Acting Chairperson by your decision, Doctor, and that I wish to further note that you abstained from voting on the document, as did Aurelia. She proposed the document, but had no vote in its passing.
I could understand being against the document if you voted "no" for it in the first place, but you chose not to vote at all on a major piece of legislation. I realize that this doesn't in any way show your consent, but certainly getting upset over something you chose not to vote on and was approved by a majority of council members is a litttle...
...childish.
Say what you will, even though Aurelia's name is on it, the treaty was approved by the Council via a fair democratic process.
It is oversights like these, and the remarkably short memories everyone seems to have about the troubles that ended the ZA and CoZ, that cause me to not move to support a new Zoner governing body of any kind or to any degree.

Addendum: It was brought to my attention by the more tenured directors that it was Doc Holliday along with Mr. Nichols who originally drafted and proposed the treaty. With this being the case, I could understand not casting a vote as that would be self-serving and I can respect you for that, Doc, but that also nullifies abstinence of support for the treaty as well. Your own ideas were the foundation for that treaty and you now lay the blame on Aurelia Turncoat for what you see as invalid? How does that work?

One of the reasons our ship was commissioned in the first place is that, no matter what happens, Zoners support other Zoners. We recently returned to Gran Canaria after delivering crew and supplies to Freeport 14. I and probably two-thirds of my crew qualify as one of those people that Elizabeth mentions - we were born Zoners.
Something to keep in mind is that we've always had the freedom to choose. If we truly desired to go to the so-called 'civilized' spaces, we could and would. Instead, we choose to live here, doing what we do, because this freedom and acceptance of the responsibility for our own futures is what calls to us.
We've seen the typical politics in all of the houses. We reject that - and anything that is similar to that, if applied to us, should be rejected as well. We are not slaves to a system government - we are free men and women, with our own accountability for our actions. We will fight to defend our friends, our brothers, our sisters, our very way of life - but that should never be our first course of action. That is the course of action that the nationalistic slave holding system governments take.
As for my crew, my ship, and I - we will continue to support our Zoner brothers and sisters where ever we are needed.

And may I remind you, Sir, that not only did I not negotiate Bethlehem nor would I have ever done so as it was, I was bed ridden and unable to. TAZ doesn't recognize it nor do a couple of recent Freeport administrators.
I born Zoner, and i'm even one of the few FP7 survivors, where i lost my parents and my younger sister. After that i had a life of hell, surviving first times on Liberty and then on Freeports, until i had a chance and serve on a Fearless class destroyer where i enter as a mechanical and ended as first officer. Ended because the ship that i was serving was destroyed by BHG on the Delta war.
I never care about politics, even now i simply don't care, even been the leader of New Lusitania. But what i know is that "united we stand, divided we fall" don't work! Zoners never again will be united. We saw that on the conflict of FP1/FP9 with the Corsairs and the conflict of FP11 with BHG and Corsairs. While some Zoners were been killed others were ... "defensives". "The Zoners are a diverse group of individuals" that is the first thing that is written, and has a diverse group of individuals there are diverse opinions. Forget the pass, looking to the present, there are two major situations where there is various opinions, FP1 and Gallia. On both some say take it easy, others say kill others say nothing, and the opinion can change from the situation. One example, i don't agree with FP1 politics on challenge Bretonia, the bretonian lion can be weak but his claws are still sharpe, but many Zoners agree, like i also want to wait to see what Gallia will do ,and some are already on their fingers on the trigger to get ready to shoot. I say about Gallia, let they come in peace but be prepared for the worst, and about FP1 i say more diplomacy and less showing guns, i dont see the IMG having problems with Bretonia, and everyone know that IMG is not very friendly with BMM.
So insted a ZA, should be a Zoner ... let's say ... I don't know how to say ... a place here every Zoner base administrator and Zoner factions ... can have some kind of meeting on regular basis, say .. once a week or two weeks, for example on our great jewel that is Gran Canaria, and where Zoner problems can be discuss, for example ... let's say FP10 need consumer goods, so it cals for any other base that have more that need it, for example ... FP9, so FP9 administrator send some consumer goods to FP10, this is just an example. Othr example ... piracy! One Zoner base have problems with some pirates, all others should united and remove all docking rights to those pirates. Is this hard to do it?! is very simple thing, and some of you that this is nothing, but isn't nothing, is just a bit but is something, and all continue to have the right of their opinion and are not forced to do what he don't want to do because the majoraty of a counsil said so!
I'm the leader of New Lusitania, the final word is mine but i always listen what my captains and chiefs have to say, and some have permition to do what they thing is the best to do.
Let's start slowly and then maybe ... maybe we can go further. I even can invite all to make the first session on New Lusitania when all construction is over, and some ... matter is resolved.
According to the channel here, Doctor, you weren't infirm and bed-ridden until the negotiations were almost complete. In fact, it appears had you not become ill until a few days later, we might very well have had your name on the bottom of that treaty, not Aurelia's.

To all concerned,
I will be boarding my executive ship and heading to Bethlehem Station. We shall see you there.
Dr. John Henry Holliday
Council Chairman
What am I to make of this, Doctor? Is that not you showing support for the very treaty you laid the opening communications for? That you watched develop and gave responsibility to Mr. Nichols to hash out the details of? Those communications were even bearing the title of your office at the time, Mr. Chairman. Perhaps your illness during that time had affected your memory. In that case, I suggest reading the old transcripts so that history doesn't repeat itself. If you are ashamed of this treaty, so be it. If you are disappointed in your work done during this portion of your past, so be it. But your denials here only further cement me in my position.
Many in Zoner circles call OSI Executives "traitors" for our actions over the past year regarding the various councils. I'd much rather be falsely accused of being a traitor than be accurately proved a liar. You seem to be set on the latter, Doctor Holliday.

How quickly those old wounds come to the surface. Divided loyalties, divided adgendas, divided beliefs. Unity is not always the answer to the problems of peoples.
Every soil is different, and every crop prospers in different soil. What is good for one might kill another. When we attempt to make a consensus of Eris's blessed chaos, we toy with fate, and bring the God's wrath down upon us.

Ok, as a rather new Administrator, I'm still learning the ropes. I ws born on Freeport Nine, and sat there as the Corsairs pounded us. Where was most of the Zoners?
Mister Mace, when Dane was in trouble, TAZ, Virulian, Order, even Coalition gathered to defend the station. Not just Zoners. Tell me, if Order, Virulian, Coalition, and TAZ can coexist and cooperate to defend a small station between TWO WARRING HOUSES, then please, tell me, I IMPLORE YOU.
Why the hell cannot we cooperate? We can't we again form a central body to regulate? You think Unity is a stupid idea?
What I think is stupid is you insult Doctor Holliday like so.
I for one believe that a new body should be established. Let the sins of the past REMAIN in the, past.
Let it be forgotten, and not become a monument to all your sins.
Yours, Elyssa Knight, Administrator, Bethlehem Station

Greetings Elizabeth Tate and all who are listening,
When the Council of Zoners was in it's prime I served as an independant delegate. In those days the
Council served it's purpose well and gave the Zoner population more weight as a people in Sirius.
Unfortunately, I saw many elements of the CoZ decay and stagnate over time. Aurelia Silvan became the
excuse that caused it to finally collapse. In my humble opinion, the reason it decayed as it did was because
there were too many voices and not enough consensus. There were many ideas on how things should be done
and many arguments were brought up to what it meant to be a Zoner.
All the points put forward in these arguments had weight and reason to them, but were all fundamentally
different and hence incompatable.
This problem also arose in the Zoner Alliance. Sparked by the Corsair incident that made us all question the
way of a Zoner. War? or Peace?. Fight to earn Freedom? or Freedom through words? Both credible and
understandable philosophies but both fundamentally different.
The overall point I am trying to make here is that it has been shown time and time again that trying to
organise the Zoners under one structure or one belief is doomed to fail. In the ZA I know that it was
emphasised that the individual beliefs of Zoners would be respected, but it went to a place where the term
"Alliance" held no weight. Where anyone would do as they pleased based on their own beliefs.
Perhaps we can agree to support one another on issues we can relate on, but to make a permanent body that
will cause us to make or commit to decisions that will compromise our beliefs just doesnt work. In the end we
will always reach a place where we do what we believe is right even when the permanent body says otherwise.
This said however, if something were to ever happen that would cause us to unite, however unlikely, be aware
that I will be one of the first to answer the call.

You can keep your power hungry mits away from making decisions for me you hear.
I am sick of being blamed for what you leader types do to get involved in what doesn't concern us, it's types like you which is the very reason I left the ruddy houses in the first place.
So if you want to be all in charge then go and all hang out on one freeport and leave the rest of us alone.
