Well, Sir, maybe I do need to keep better records but little did we know that that treaty would be signed by a traitor, namely, Aurelia DeFrance.
While I was approached to negotiate it, I did indeed fall ill and withdrew as the late Sam Nichols took over. OSI eventually withdrew from the Council of Zoners and I myself fell ill as evidenced here. Look at transmissions 49 and 50. I then made the mistake of appointing Aurelia chairman from my hospital bed.
Mr. Mace, you seem to enjoy calling my credibility into question. You're beginning to sound like Aurelia DeFrance herself. It makes me wonder if you've been influenced by her. But, fear not. We TAZ keep to ourselves nowadays.
All I'm looking for, Doctor, is the truth. You seem to refuse to look it in the eye.
As far as I'm concerned, you had a hand in drafting that document. It was supported by a clear majority of the Council. Aurelia's name on the document does not signify her allegiance to the ideas in the treaty, it represents the allegiance of all those who were represented by the Council. Even though OSI left the Council and the Alliance in turn, we continued to recognize those documents ratified by the same bodies, because we all had a say in those documents and agreed on their terms.
Aurelia may have turned traitor, but the votes that support her signature did not. That is all that matters.
The only reason I call your credibility into question is because it deserves questioning, good Doctor. You contradict yourself and rewrite your involvement in Zoner diplomatic issues and in turn spit in the face of the democratic processes that were attempted. This deserves serious scrutiny, especially with the folly of considering establishing another Zoner Administration on the table.

Fear not, Mr. Mace. TAZ has no interest in a new council so I guess I'll be one non-credible person you'll have to deal with. At least I can spend time doing what I do best....saving lives.
Forgetting one's past is a sure way to repeat the same mistakes one has made. We do not need a Council or an Alliance to be unified. We can be unified merely through the fact we share common ideals.
Yes, John, he is calling your credibility into question. Just as he called me out on never speaking up and pointing out that I did in fact vote in favor of the treaty. I let you and others make the claim that it was forced upon us, when this was not the truth.
The treaty was your idea, John. You had Mr Nichols negotiate with the Liberty Navy and the Bretonian Armed Forces. You even went as far as telling the other envoys you were heading to Bethlehem after the negotiations were completed. You fell ill shortly after sending that message and had you not, it would be your signature on that document.
At the same time OSI, the ZTC, and the TAZ all left the Council. When you fell ill you made Aurelia interim chair; she could have easily signed the treaty into effect the moment you did, but she didn't. She brought it to a vote within what was left of the Council. Then at our order, she signed it into effect. The blame was shifted to her as a means of making her into a villain.
We, the Zoners of the TAZ, OSI, and the late ZTC, blamed Aurelia for the failure of the Council; when in fact it was our doings that doomed the Council. We blamed her because it was convenient. It was easier than admitting we made a mistake. Many people it seems haven't come to be able to admit that mistake, that includes you John. I am saddened that when provided hard evidence that you are indeed wrong and have been lying you refuse to accept and admit to it. Instead you shift the blame by insinuating that the person who provided it is in league with the one you blame for our mistakes.
Anyways, I find myself saying more than I had intended. Omicron Supply Industries will not participate in any new governing Council or Alliance. We will not be held to any decision it makes, nor will we submit to its will. If this new Council is merely a forum to discuss issues, seek advise, share information, and other such activities we may take part as that does indeed have some merit.
Eris will be pleased, I'm sure. I find it amusing that mostbunall times, She's right.
You know, our distant ancestors used to mark their territories with excrement, when they weren't busy flinging it at the next-door primate tribe.
Primates evolved, soon marking their territories with borders, and high walls, and replaced the excrement-flinging with sharp, flying, sometimes burning objects.
Eventually, we became "domesticated primates", and evolved to defining our territory with treaties, and laws, and "polite" discussion, flinging words instead of more formidable or fragrant items.
Apparently, like cycles of history, what we choose to fling seems to recycle, as well.
I don't care who signed what, or who stood up for who, or why so-and-so flung such and such at little Jimmy.
It's all according to plan.
Time to put the "A" back in "TAZ", my fellow Zoners. Non Servium.
Ahoy!
Ehm, I'm proud to be independent and to do supply runs - which have the nice side effect to be profitable.
Also I have respect to all the guys'n'gals who run and maintain all the Freeports.
But hey all l i see on this channel is politics worse than in Liberty!
Me never got any worse problems with anyone - Pay someone here and there, make some delivery here, talk with someone there.
But I'm just a mere BWT pilot, not one piloting that fancy big ships.
One thing is for sure: We Zoners are far a way from being one family or council or whatever fancy, shiny thing you invent.
We got the commercial one there, some idealistic there, some wo do not care, some punks and my butt.
Guess what I do care - my toilet paper.
If all things are that worse, just get on your fancy, shiny ships and head for that big, light ball of fire.

No, Mr. Mace, my signature would never have been inked on that. I would never have negotiated that! Why? I have never and still don't recognize Omega 3 as Bretonian space as they claim so the 30 million credits per month would never meet my approval.
Doc starts to get angry
Bretonians! You would think they would be more greatful after the Port Jackson Accords that gave their refugees a safe place to call home. THAT I did sign and still they push.

I would have to agree with Mr. Victor Cross... A new unified system of government in form would be a very, very bad idea. It is against our ideals, and could be used to take advantage of us... like what pinhead DeFrance did. We are united in spirit, which is stronger than any 'central' government could possibly be.
Each Freeport and region in which we zoners inhabit has different circumstances... and unneeded bureaucracy would simply cause matters to never be dealt with.
"thank you all for your comments. - it seems that it is indeed not the time. but the good thing about time is, that it inevitable will change everything.
for that time, the people might have chosen to contain power and to choose freedom over obligation. i can but hope that we zoners indeed are "united in spirit".
all those voices are an indicator that we zoners are what we are, which is a very good thing - and i till bear it particularly in mind.
diversity is thousandfold; it is hard to fool, hard to manipulate, hard to control, - hard to track. it is an effective defense for us zoners. it is a nourishing soil for all kinds of - activities. i shall but hope that our different agendas won t drive us further apart - up to a point where one zoner does not recognize another zoner anymore.

//ooc as that thread was only meant to gather a quick feedback - it should not be posted here anymore and it can be locked, in RP that channel was closed.
Miss Tate. While i have no objection to forming new defense fleets, a single governing body goes against the wish of many who follow the zoner way. While we of the Avalon will continue to defend what we view as zoner interests, we at the same time do not wish to force upon others of the way our point of view. We all know of the real threat, despite some of us not wanting to admit it.
To the rest of us who oppose the idea, i agree that a central government would not work, it goes against our ideas. At the same time, our living is eked out by survival. She who has the biggest guns often finds it easyer to negotiate. Diplomacy with the houses and other groups is dependent on our ability to back our words, to defend our holdings. Diplomacy cannot be done if we ourselves are not sure what we offer.
My only advice is to strengthen your will and press on, choose your path, reject the ones you refuse to follow.
