In the name of the Guild Core, you are to undertake a planet-side mission to the Planet of Nauru within Omicron Delta. The aim of this mission is to survey it for any points of importance, Corsair settlements, alien ruins and important geographical features.
You will have an expeditionary force placed under your command to do with as you will, along with the Battleship Victory and her escorts which will be stationed above the planet in order to provide protection, for no foe must interrupt this operation. This mission is the precursor to the construction of our first planetside outpost, and is of vital importance.
Should there be a Corsair presence upon the planet, you are to exterminate it entirely, leave not a single one alive, but do so with ground forces, not from orbit, in order to ensure that no damage is dealt to the planet's crust, or any ruins that may be of importance.

Theodore entered the briefing room which was full of laughter and loud voices. He made his way to the
main holo-screen and hit the desk a couple of times to draw the attention of the marines.
[font=Palatino Linotype]"Alright...I'm Theodore Geralt or Paladin Chalybs. You don't know me
and there is a good reason for it. I'm a pilot not a marine. However I've spent 4 years in the Royal
Bretonian atmospheric drop forces, so I'm no stranger to infantry operations. We were just "volunteered"
for an important mission given by Guildmaster Varrus himself. If any of you wanted to stretch their legs a
bit on real ground this is your lucky day."
The holo-screen came to life forcing Ted to move slightly to the side so he doesn't obstructs the view
[font=Palatino Linotype]"We'll be landing on Nauru, you might have already seen it through
the window. Our goals are as follows: Survey the planet geologically and geographically; map any ruins and
human built settlements/outposts. If we encounter resistance most probably Corsairs we are to make ALL of
them blend nicely with the environmental dust. Men, women, even children...it won't be glorious or easy but
it's them or us..."
"This is our LZ, we'll be riding a Pelican-class drop ship. The atmosphere
is breathable if a bit smelly, however we WILL NOT take off our helmets once we are planetside, no external
influence that can degrade our combat performance. If we do our jobs as we are supposed to we will be
back home in a few days. Any questions?"
[color=#FFCC99]"Any Orbital support, sir?"
"Yes the Victory will remain in orbit to support us if need be. Any more questions?...No? Ok, if everything is
clear this will be all. Skids up from the main hangar bay at 0600 hours shipboard time, be ready an hour
before that. Dismissed"

After the briefing Theodore went straight to the science deck to get the O.P.A. (Orbital Planetary Analysis).
As he walked in the scientific scanner room the girl in glasses working on a computer raised her head and
smiled
[font=Palatino Linotype] [color=#FFFFCC]"Hello there Ted, I've got the data you requested"
"Thanks Sally, I'll get on it right away. Upload to a data chip please"
[color=#FFFFCC]"Already did, here" She handed him the data chip "So what's this hush hush mission about?"
"I can tell you but I'll have to kill you" Ted laughed as he was leaving the scanner room
"Wouldn't you anyway..."

Mass: 4.21 x 10e24 kg
Temperature: 4°C to 107°C
Escape velocity: 9.53 km/sec
Supplement: Unknown number of settlements, no moons, one artificial Yaren Base. Planet orbiting the
quartary star system Delta and the gas giant Tuvalu in a complex orbit. Relative surface gravity acceleration 11m/s^2
Day: [color=#FF0000]1
Location: [color=#FF0000]Denigomodu valley, Planet Nauru
Log: Landing and initial surface studies
Our drop ship touched down in the Denigomodu valley at 0645hours, the re-entry went smooth with no
deviation from the standard parameters. Our survey drones made a couple of sweeps around the transport
and started the decontamination procedures so we can open the airlocks at 0657hours.
(DeconDrone footage file NEE#0031)
The initial atmospheric scans were conducted at 0703hours (see attached file NEE#0032) and confirmed
standard breathable atmosphere with trace amounts of H2S giving the air a specific odour. However for our
stay here we will breathe controlled atmosphere through the life support systems of our suits.
Egress was completed at 0730hours, the terrain of the planet is mostly deserts however there are rocky
mountains, most of the water is under the surface, no visible bodies of water were observed during the
re-entry, the air humidity is less than 0.1%. It is almost a constant day on the on the planet due to orbital
position of the 4 stars, even when during the summer in the northern hemisphere when the starts are
aligned on one plane the nights are quite bright due to gas giant Tuvalu illuminating the sky. The
temperatures near the landing zone were in the margin 40-60 degrees, near the poles measurements
showed temperatures as low as 4 degrees.
(Nauru surface file NEE#0033)
Tomorrow we will set up the scientific instruments on the surface as well as deploy and assemble the rover
APC in order to conduct recon missions away from the landing site.
Day: [color=#FF0000]2&3
Location: [color=#FF0000]Planet Nauru
Log: Further studies and contact
We've made good progress on the surface. In the past couple of days we covered about 150km using our
APC. The terrain varied from sandy dunes to rocky plains. It is strange when the sun never really set and
when it does it's almost as bright as a day, but we are adapting. The boys are in good spirits, morale is
high and they are determined to get the job done.
Several hours ago our recon bots picked up what seems to be trails in the sand, this might be indigenous
creatures or perhaps human settlement near by. We are on medium alert at the moment, ready to respond to
a possible encounter
Day: [color=#FF0000]4
Location: [color=#FF0000]Planet Nauru
Log: Settlement
Our drones confirmed the presence of a small settlement probably of Corsair origin. Most of the structures
are prefabricated or makeshift ones, power is provided by a power core from M10 fighter one, the tallest
structure is a water tower estimated 15meters high The estimated population is between 300-320 people. 4
armed men were spotted.
We will attack the settlement in 1500hours, Johnson and McPherson will act as a sniper team, the rest of us
will clear the settlement house by house using our APC as cover and fire support. The plan is to eliminate
the armed men first, then purge the remaining population

The assault was successful, the population was successfully purged, we suffered no casualties, I took a hit
but my armour absorbed its energy though I think it fried my Tac.Com. processor. We are currently in the
process of gathering the bodies, and compiling a causality list.

We've gathered and immolated the remains of the settlers, here's an excerpt of the casualty report
During the search of the settlement we found some pretty interesting maps of the area, with several zones
of interest marked on them. Tomorrow when the men are well rested we will mount an expedition to those
areas. The first one is in an ancient riverbed about 20 clicks from here, a detailed description of the site will
be included in my next report.

(Nauru surface file NEE#0034)
We've reached one of the areas marked on the map. It is a structure carved out in the desert rock. Scanns
can't penetrate more than 100 meters of rock, but the caverns are present there. We've got no idea how big
the ruins are but we will explore. I will breif the men on the contingency procedures before we venture in.

Log: Ruin exploration force briefing
(Theodore Cubbage-Gerald a.k.a Paladin Chalybs)
Alrighty people listen up, I'm about to explain the contingency procedures for exploration of alien ruins. I
know we've been in those suits for 5 days already but endure just a while longer. So here's how it goes
down. When we go in, we cover each other's back, always move in pairs, nobody gets left behind. Ruins like
these are preferred hiding spot for indigenous predators, so keep your eyes open, and do thermal scans
before you enter.
Very important, you do not touch anything before you've scanned it. Those things were there long before
the population of the Earth was 4 amoebas. If we do find anything, we scan it, put it in the secure crate and
call in an airlift, is that understood?
One more thing you should be aware of, in the unlikely event that we discover something that could
somehow jeopardize the guild or humanity as a whole, I've got orders to activate an emergency beacon,
the Victory will then commence bombardment of the ruins immediately despite the fact that we might still be
in there. I just wanted to let you know, not my or your lifes are worth threatening the guild...

Log: Ruin exploration
Right after we entered the ruins the rooms were in pretty bad shape as was the main corridor which was leading
deeper in the complex. The walls looked weathered, no markings or anything of value, just empty rooms.
As we moved down the condition of ruins improved significantly, we reached a half-buried with sand door
made of an unknown metal (marked for analysis). It took a bit of persuasion but we managed to open it.
The atmospheric content behind it was significantly different than the planet’s atmosphere. Mostly Argon.
The hallways were in perfect condition, no dust and sand, no signs of corrosion or any sort of deterioration.
This might very well be the most preserved Class A ruin we’ve discovered.
The whole complex is massive, it probably goes for miles underneath the surface. The rooms we found
were left as they were, with various objects scattered in them. So far almost all of them are of unknown
purpose to us. Moving further down we passed through a room which I believe was a shrine of a sort. A
circular chamber with a pillar covered in script (marked for xeno-translation).
Another point of interest was series of rooms with objects which resembled operating tables. We’ve
gathered several artifacts after carefully scanning them, they appear active, no radiation or any other emissions
were found. They are being moved to the airlift zone as I write this log.
I called off the first expedition as the complex seems deserted and with no immediate dangers and we don’t
know how far underground it goes, I recon it’s safe for the scientists to move in and explore the whole
extent of ruins.

Guildmaster, we've discovered some of the alien ruins you've suspected were present on the surface. Our
expedition was not equipped for proper scientific research, so we bagged some of the artefacts and send them
to Dabadoru for proper analysis'¦
I know it's not my business sir, but may I suggest the establishment of a small outpost near the complex we
discovered. The structure underground is massive and we've explored only a tiny part of it, and frankly with all
going on in orbit I don't think the best course of action is airlifting everything we find to Dabadoru.
That's about it. Encrypted in this message are all of the mission logs.
We cannot spare any transport ships at present due to the situation in Omicron Minor, however, I will send a reserve Gunship with an extended cargo hold to retrieve this artefact. It will be brought to the station with all haste for examination.
As to the establishment of an outpost, this has been under consideration for a long time, and now with the situation changing drastically, it may prove of vital strategic importance. The materials will be sent for immediately so that construction can begin as soon as possible. A contingent of auxiliaries will be provided to protect and man the outpost construction site. Until the bulk components arrive, a preliminary redoubt and camp should be constructed, the location is up to you.
These records will prove extremely valuable in the establishment of our control over the planet, you have done very well, and as such, I am putting you in command of all operations on the planet, to rule and oversee it in the name of the Guild.
