Scrapped the old idea of a large liner, it was rather impractical. Basically, it'd be a generic version of the Salvager, but which can only mine minerals. Would have the lasers built in those forward gun mounts and would be slightly better stat-wise, but slightly larger, as it's not a scrap heap as the Salvager is.

Or perhaps a generic combat frigate? Effectively a larger, heavier gunboat?

Maybe? Dunno. If anyone has any other ideas for where it could fit in, I'm game to hear.

Civilian Cruiser..
Or ultra heavy gunboat...
Or generic liner available to everyone, just slightly worse than Prison liner...

the bridge / tower suggests rather small windows - which in turn - suggests a rather large size of at least liberty dreadnought size - but probably larger ( appears to be spyglass length )

i d like to see a skinned version .. it d do a lot to determine what it can be used for - and what the size is meant to be. - however... its doubtful anything gets in anyway - and who knows when 4.87 launches

Alright, seriously. This model (from Broken Bonds, used as a cruiser the size of a Turtle) was suggested for a liner. That's still kinda legit, size-wise. But seriously. A frigate?

It's used in Broken Bonds, yes. But it's my model, my mesh regardless. And what's so wrong with changing the size so long as it looks like it could be that size?

Oh, it's yours? Hm.

Well... then change the size.

I agree that it looks more like a cruiser than a miner.

If one mines in cockpit view and not in turret view (which will probably be the case for any larger mining ship), the ship should look like its good at turning even though it has a large mass (for storing the ore). Thats kinda a big flaw for the hegemon at the moment. It looks like it turns much to fast for its size.

The best design for turning fast even though you got a large ship is spherical because it allows you to get the most mass the closest to both rotation axis.

Anyone ever thought of making a ship that has a spherical large cargo container which it revolves around?

Maybe it could look like the IMG Atlas freighter, only that the ship has 1 spherical cargo container instead of 2, which it basically revolves around while mining.

Maybe the Atlas model with the sphere can be the base for making the miner, even use similar or the same textures and components.

I'd have a go at it if no one else wants to try that.

Is there any free 3D modeling software that is suitable for making ship models for disco?

Dude it's gigantic and BS sized. I've told you this already. >_>

It is not a small ship. Basically what Jinx said.
