'You've got to understand, that no one knows I am here, with you. Not even "them". The Order assumes I became one of their puppets when I decided to join their ranks. My actions proved them wrong many times. You took the agressive tactic, I took the backdoor one. But in the end, we both want the same thing.
The point is, a small top secret cell of The Order has recently performed several technology advances that worry me a lot. I've got a spy in there, and from what I've been told, this cell is doing amazing progress on hybridation. The problem is, they're doing it wrong. Basically, their way of doing it is to first "create" a nomad, but without any mind link. Do you know what happens when a nomad's mind link is cut ? It falls back to it's most primal instinct. And that is... kill everything it comes across.'
Kate looked at him very seriously for a moment.
'You -don't- want one of these out there. Even less if it manages to evolve into what you'd call a really really big nomad and even less if they end up accidently creating a fleet of these.'
She took her helmet in her hands, and put it on her legs while looking at it.
'I wouldn't have suggested Page if I wasn't sure that he is reliable. Much more reliable than the Order and the LSF are. Big problems are going to arise soon David. I hope you're ready to fight for it, because this time, your life will be in danger for real.'
Still looking at her helmet, Hale could notice she seemed sad for an unknown reason.
'I came to you not just because of your job, I came to you because of who you are. I tried to hang on to my humanity, but after everything I've seen... it simply became impossible. However, you... you still have hope, I've seen it.'
She paused.
'I will not last long after what I did here. When my time will come, you'll receive an advantage from me. Something that will give you a large leap ahead of the Order and "them". All I hope, is that my trust into your judgement will not be misplaced. Miss Defmir, as you call her now... she'll be needed as well. It's the only thing I still live for, the thing that I did everything up to now for, including this. You'll understand, when it will be time.'
Kate put on her helmet, and sealed it.
'Remember everything that happened tonight. I wish I could stay longer and explain you things entierely, but my time is short. Way too short. My heritage will belong to you when the time come, make sure it'll not be misused.'
