Kallisti to all.
I'm sure some of you have heard through the grape vine the news I will announce but for those who haven't, I feel you should know and I ask everyone for their respect in our time of loss.
A few days ago, our founder and high priest, Malacypse, passed away in his Temple office. I will report that it was due to natural causes. This came as a shock to us all here in Baffin and we have pulled together to mourn and pray. We ask your respect in this time as we work to re-structure and refrain from all requests in the next couple of weeks.
I'll save how I feel and how my people feel. For those of you who saw him as a friend, I need not say anything. I think we can relate to each other.
For those who may have been indifferent or even dislike, he showed respect to even his enemies. There aren't many who can make that boast, myself included.
Over the next week, Baffin will remain open as always but TAZ will be in prayer and meeting so contact may be limited. We have made efforts to keep a ship in system should anyone want to talk or just remember. But please, withhold all requests until such time as we complete our private services.
Shortly afterward, we will announce a public service for Mal. Details of where, what and when will be given at that time. Again, I ask that TAZ personnel not be harassed in the meantime for information. I will announce it.
If you wish, you may leave comments on this channel. They won't be responded to but will be read.
Thank you!
Dr. John Henry Holliday
TAZ Administrator
"As you may be aware, I was recently on leave and decided to visit Baffin to learn about TAZ culture. This event came as a shock when I heard of it firsthand from the captain of the Fifth of Discord. All of us within the Order Science Division offer our most sincere condolences, I never met Malacalypse personally but I believe all of Sirius knew him at least by reputation as a respectable and likeable individual."
"We have departed Baffin and set course back home so as not to be in the way or interrupt TAZ members during this time of mourning, but know that we wish you all the best and will be available should you need anything we can provide."
You ran with me, as an orphaned pup in Silver City, where we tried to make a home.
You ran with me, away from Silver City, when home and happiness eluded us.
...
You ran with me, near Lindrith, where Ron and Diane gave us shelter, and we healed in the the vast splendor.
You ran with the deer and horses, but spared the goats and chickens.
You ran with me, to the Northwest, to meet internet friends, and perhaps find some potato machines in need of fixing.
You ran with me, back to Utah, where you ran into a car, and convalesced. We found purpose for awhile, until Mom ran her last race.. to Heaven.
You ran with me, to Pazcuaro, where I found I could only walk with you a short while before my back began to cry "no mas"..
You ran with me, even in your death, lying on your side, legs a blur, in the throes of some mysterious convulsion.
You run with me still, in my mind, and heart, my faithful companion.
I havent touched my guitar in weeks. Maybe months, I dunno. It's always been the way for me to get my feelings out, and its the purest voice I've ever had. I really...really wanted to sing...for Mal...but...
...but I couldnt...find anything.
...Just nothing for me to say...everything that comes to mind just seems...hollow.
The only real thing...is the tears I've shed.
Most of us here at Freeport One didnt know him, but a lot of the citizens have said prayers, and we'd like to make a donation to the temple fund in his name. Soon as we round it all up, we'll send it off, along with a card signed by every citizen here.
Im sorry there's nothing else we can do.
I myself...I've lost more then a friend. I've lost a mentor.

Strewth, bloody shame to hear about the Malaclypse. Many commiserations to the TAZ. He was a top feller in my book. If there was one individual who helped shape my spiritual outlook, which can be best described as "chaotic pantheism", then he was it. I shall mutter a quiet prayer.
If there's gonna be a service open to the public, please let us know and I'll be there. For my part, I'll be honouring Mal as he would have liked... sticking on the pineal amulet and chuckling at his special brand of "ha ha only serious".
This loss is horrible. May he rest in all minds of all of you. Personally I never had the pleasure to seek for a religion the TAZ are on with...but it seems you have finally found your...master...
Nothing dies in real. Out of the ashes of burned earth, new life will grow. And for now I think somebody should be happy about that his ghost no longer have to course through a weak organism....my condolences to you all anyway...
I do not only send this transmission on behalf of the Republic, but for myself as well, I have had the privilege to share conversation with Mal, indeed Mal was an extraordinary entity entirely. High ranking military officers do not have the ability to mourn as much, but I will feel as I can.
Of course, the TAZ has aided the Republic in times of need, or just to be a 'partner' in business, most of the fleet knows of Mal, thus a small prayer-anomaly is being spread throughout the fleet, even in such hard times. The fleet's, as well as my condolences go with you.
My respects and that of the Guild go with you. I did not know your leader, personally, but the Discordians as a whole I would consider friends. We understand your desire for solace in this time. A void leaves a wound. It takes time to heal.
Heal in peace. My condolances.
Regards,
- Johnathan Sanders, on behalf of the Independent Miners Guild
