Hey guys.

Ideas Required:

Finally finished study and I have nothing to do. So I thought I would start on something I've had in the back of my head for a very long time. I was inspired by a YouTube Member called "Why485" who did a series of these awesome short clips in Lightwave with the models from Freelancer.

The basic idea I had in my head was fighters dog fighting, maybe a ship re-entering an atmosphere of a planet and bombing a base. Or an attack on a space station with explosions everywhere...etc...etc. Not sure exactly.
Instead of jumping right in, I wanted to see who was interested in providing some more ideas. Maybe there is a popular RP story I could maybe base it off?

Technical Stuff:

I have all the ship models from Freelancer. (vanilla only) The only thing I have not learned yet is how to grab the base components and planet textures as well. If anyone could fill me in, that would be great.

A lot of other things have to be sorted out first, but if you have modeled a ship and would like to see it in there, email the mesh and textures in *fbx or *.ms3d format to me:)

About base models rendering.

As far as I know, all base models (vanilla) are constructed by combinations of base objects (pylons, bridge, biodomes, etc). If you wanted to render a specific base, you'd have to recreate it by reassembling it from all its primitive parts.

edit: Oh, they're all in Freelancer/DATA/BASES

In other words, the process is exactly the same as ships. I was aware I had to find the individual parts. I remember Kingvallient telling me he built bases in word pad because all it is is a script to put it all together, haha.

Thanks for the info:)
