I don't have numbers, but yes, small mining ships are faster at mining than large ones.

yes, fighters do mine faster, but it's only something like 20% faster. If someone filled a 5k in less time than it took you to fill your hegemon, that's more likely due to differences in loadout or style.
Checklist for max mining:
-Mining ship
-Mining faction ID
-Matching mining faction IFF
-Two symmetrically placed mining turrets
Snub miners have a bonus of 10-20 %. That was done to increase teamplay and discourage solo-mining.
The second advantage is that a small group of snub miners can kill Ptrans and weak GBs that comes into a field (just saying: snac!) plus survive most of these encounters long enough.
' Wrote:Are fighters faster than transports at mining, and if so could someone give me a comparison?
Fighters have a 25% bonus to ore yields over transports when a mining bonus applies. This was done to promote team activity in mining - fighters are incapable of mining alone. Multiple mining turrets should not make a difference but I've observed using a second turret does make me mine about 15% faster. Probably from lucky hits on the second shot. I've tried with 3 or 4 as well, but more then 2 didn't make me mine any faster.
