The following is my report on my time amongst the cultists of malta... Ive been deliberating wiether or not i should.. give this to anyone but Im old and my encryption skills are rusty. Better then any other JUNKER encryption but.. I mean lets get real here the.. stuff I saw is..way over.. our heads..
Anyhow.. here goes..
On my tour aboard the TAZ sponsored Estium hospital cruiser. I had taken her to many destinations. My intention was to dispense psycho-therapeutic relief to areas of.. great turmoil and stress.
The first few destinations weren't anything out of the ordinary. Few Pirates shoot at a Zoner humanitarian vessle and I could keep my junker ties in the closet if need be. Thought my logs about those destinations are open and available.
This is for.. more specifically my visit to Omicron-81.
Seguro Refugio is a expanding and growing community. The cult has many facilities here in light to some.. Unfriendly business they had with Administrator Jameson.
But while they say that have presence all over Malta its hard to be skeptical because, Ive seen the designs and stained class art these guys have all over Malta. The same black pyramid and the angels fling overhead is apparently panels form their scroll of history.
Thier propaganda machine is extensive but it isnt in letterpress or people knocking on your door. All thier Cardamine has materials with it. Subtle notes and messages in the containers and bags.
"This was packed with love by Windcaller Mary." or "Come see the Temple where we grow this orange dream!"
Subtle. Their facilities in this rock however looked grand with meditation chambers and study halls and Cardamine dens... But it seems that the living and medical facilities were an afterthought.
What brought me there was my damned fool brother that got mixed in with these people. I can say no to alot but not to my family. Leonard was insistent that they could use my help diagnosing a mental disease that is common ins some who regularly use large amounts of cardamine.
And as the medical journal is.. limited in this sort of subject I personally thought anyone who was artificially euphoric on some drug wasn't sick or crazy but.. simply effected. Apparently I was wrong.
When the Estium arrived I was given facilities on the planetoid but... they weren't vary efficient or good. They were downright ghastly.. this obsidian slab int he middle of a.. cold stone room was more of a morgue then a doctors office. Also.. I could trust the fresh air on my ship. So i started seeing the cases they wanted me to see. I would get a chart from the Outcast doctor and i would have my staff do the same tests to confirm it.
They didn't like that essentially... but I explained its much easier to record records then transcribe them.
Also.. the outcast charts were missing important information that the patients usually answered readily.
Many of these patients were slaves, no family or genetic tied to the outcasts... However i did see a few third generation Maltese which is about the generation where mutations and things get quite interesting.
As I would interview cases I came across many textbook pathological cases. Though they were oddly indoctrinated by the cults precepts their moral alignment was... somewhat nonexistent. Leonard told me that they where "cultists" in their order and were only trusted with the most menial or remedial tasks because thier moral compass was somewhat bent.
As I came to see these patents blood work come back I noticed some oddities. Some of these cultists tested negative for cardamine but where certainly mutated by it.
In fact 15% of my patients... who were oddly 100% of the sociopaths didn't come positive the usual body fluid cardamine tests. NO cardamine but they were alive and well.
And insane.
After about a month however it was apparent all they were after was my diagnosis to their mental state. While I wasn't ordered to leave but was nicely dismissed by the cult.
With my business with them done... I started working with the others that lived there. Finding that many of the slaves and plantation owners kept their workers in excellent health and got a taste of some of the best Fungeelli and Lasagna of my life...
Though it seems that the Non cult Maltese never had anything bad to say about them other then the fact the cult sometimes guilt the plantation owners into lower trades or prices on behalf of the "spirits" I figure if any religious group didn't ruffle feathers with their collection plate antics it wouldn't be a real cult.
I had spent every additional moment I could using my Phased Imaging Chamber to scan patients. This piece of technology is a wonderful way of getting a full picture of the human body right down to the neurons.
I had plenty of material to analyse while taking appointments for client counciling which given there's no councilors... they probably wont have when I left.
After about two months of figuring out the typical influence cardamine has on the human nervous system I was surprised to see that the amount of entropy or... the amount the neurons separated and reconnected was uncharacteristically high in 8-10% of the newly addicted.
Children and newborns have this activity but.. not this hyper, what does this reveal about their mental states? Its possible that some of these people maybe undergoing mood and mentality changes daily... Meaning that their not only psychotic but beyond so.
This type of hyper stimulation seemed only to happen in slaves and rarely in generational Maltese, but I can understand why the outcasts use so many cybernetic implants because their brains are literally wiggling out of their skulls.
Another disturbing trend I could see is that while successive generations will be sterilized against traditional childbirth, attempts of artificial gestation and forced gestation in a typical fertility clinic environment would create some terrible mutations of the brain.
I labored a long time to share this... but my oath broke me down. I sent my findings to Leonard who passed them off to his superior.
It wasen an hour before a man named Liam appeared at the airlock. He was short.. but imposing.. had a russian accent whitch is something you dont hear outside the SCRA.
Under confidence i did not record the conversation but from what i can tell you We spoke about my findings on the mental state and how I beleaved that the batch of cultists i saw.. shouldn't be trusted with any type of dangerous equipment.
Liam agreed and said that the spirits would take care of them... Thats what spooked me. he "sensed" my discomfort. And had a confession about my findings about the lack of cardamine in thier body. He said that Liquid cardamine a substance from the Nomads could do as I saw and that the patients I saw were the survivor of the firs trials of the cults fertilization campaigns.
He admitted that their first trials where one of the reasons he was "saved" from the coalition and that his experience in eugenics were unrivaled in the sector. obviously not enough for these volunteers. He looked dissapointed in my diagnosis that there was no known cure for their "wiring".
I pushed farther.. Asking if the SCRA was actively exsparamenting with eugenics and cardamine. he shook he head and said he didn't know. he said again however "in the coalition" the goal was to make the perfect solider the perfect pilot.. easily controlled through implants also agents that where given implants and were bred to have Psionic abilities. Telepathy, Psycho kenesis, and even more. The only thing he ever saw close were some of the old gypsies and carnivol folk in rhienland that could stop frogs hearts or make things move across a table.
"Of course the nomads blow all of that away and I suspect even infected humans perform far beyond what we would have thought possible." Liam said.
I said.. "I suppose."
Liam went on to thank me and that if I ever came up with anything more that could help in as far as their neural-chemistry to let them know. I agreed to keep them in the loop if they felt inclined to keep me in the loop about their sterility research.
Now.. I haven't heard anything from them since... but today I came across something one of my patients from Omicron 81 left behind. It looked like a normal rosary with a vial of holywater.
But this aint holy-water. Hell I dont know WHAT it is. it looked like liquid cardamine but me being nosey ran it through testing. Closest it seems to be is Cerebral Spinal fluid.
It burns up regular brain cells, but in cardamine RNA mutated cells it removes the cardamine receptors as far as I can tell on a cellular level this makes the metabolism cease dependence on cardamine.
Heres the problem.
I only have about 60 milliliters of it. And I have a feeling this would make anyone who took up an outright sociopath but at least they'll be free of cardamine addiction?
I have taken the analysis to several labs hoping one can reproduce it. Problem is. They cant.
So.. as far as I can tell. Liquid Cardamine is used in some process regarding genetic manipulation at the micro-cellular level and even as distilled as it is in this spinal fluid carries the "designed" mutations that can still effect living cells in a foreign body.
Trick is... How do we get Liquid Cardamine to do this to "cure" the metabolism without making the patient emotionless psychopaths.
Also.. To have a patient "leave" this with me.. couldn't have been an innocent mistake... So.. basically... if you find this file and im dead.. go figure.
