Hi guys. This is not a faction info page or anything like that. This is just me giving a heads up and asking for suggestions of what you all would like to see from an OC Smuggling Faction. This has been an idea in my head for about half a year, which is when Doc. Jameson planted it there. As many of us know, he's gone and for a while there was much confusion over whom was the leader of the OC and such. I let the idea die, but recently i discovered Patrician was the guy running the show now so i gave him a poke and have his support along with many of the 101st guys' support behind the smuggling faction.
Currently there's not much of 'plan' or anything. Me and another guy just now started talking over things. BUT we did decide we will be based in Omega 81. Perfect place, no? So. Before me and my pal make any serious decisions and plans, I'd like suggestions or ideas for things the community would like to see in an OC smuggling group. That is, if you have any. If no one has anything to say we'll just roll right on along. The goal is to have this faction up and running by the end of this month, along with a faction info page, and recruitment. That's a bit short term though. Aside from that, I've heard rumors of a certain someone planning on making an intel/black-ops OC group. If that works out, and this smuggling group works out, you can plan on the OC having a council once again, us getting up all in yo' face, and the RP outweighing the name of 'lolwut' the OC nation has become. :yahoo:

One thing to consider, is are you planning on the ships flying an Outcast IFF/ID, or with a Smuggler ID? Flying OC colors severely limits the places where you can dock to sell the goods. Outcast IFF with a Smuggler ID could work if you wanted to be able to dock on lawful planets and the like, or you could go without an IFF and just have the faction tag to identify you.
Another question is whether you want to actually make money, or be primarily for RP? Limiting the faction to freighters rather than full transports is great for the smuggling RP (and smuggling in general), but not so great for making money. On the other hand, freighters are just cooler than transports. :cool:
Do you intend on having dedicated escort pilots, or be pure smugglers? My personal suggestion would be smugglers-only... There's probably a good possibility of finding other OC willing to escort if needed, and if anyone's flying a freighter it can serve as an escort in its own right. A Kraken-filled Bactrian would be terrible to behold... Though, with the way tech nerfing for improper IFF/IDs are working now, they probably wouldn't work unless you're full Outcast in a 'cast ship.

And not to mention you would get traders/lawfuls in general screaming OUTCAST!!!! in system chat lol.

DRV told me he intends to run cardy into Gallia, not just Liberty. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like the Outcasts want anything Gallia is selling, so there's no direct return trip. So it might be necessary to run things other than Cardy and Slaves.

The Server has way to many factions, it does not need more.
I disagree. The server has a steady flow of factions being made, and factions being disbanded in order to make way for the new. Such as VR.

I gave this some thought, and came to the conclusion that a Smuggler ID and Outcast IFF would best fit the RP. As for tag, I do not know yet. I don't exactly have a name for the Faction either. I'll conjure one up shortly ;p

We'll most likely be using transports, but freightors will definitely be an option. As for making money or RP, we will do both Gallia routes and Liberty routes. The Gallia route will be primarily RP-and hopefully more challenging. The typical Liberty cardi route will also be used though for money over RP. (Hey, i need credits for all this fancy new tech we're getting ;) )

Pure smugglers. THOUGH! There is the possibility of having a 'few' official escort guys. But yes, like you stated there are plenty of OC that would be willing to escort us. We'll probably just grab them for the most part. And uhm.. I dunno about the kraken freighter part. I haven't really seen that sort of thing done. And to be honest i doubt that would really work.
