Nomad space used to be sooo scary. I'd rarely take a non-combat vehicle in there because they would always CD and then it was a gank. Now it's dull, candy land, if you don't stop they just watch you skate by. Bring your grizzly freighter it's easy.
They serve no purpose but to annoy, and they impede RP by slowing people down when they're going to events and such where there are actual PEOPLE to RP with.
You should try to RP with a NPC... tell me how it works out.
If I might chime in; I, personally, have been absolutely LOVING the lack of CDs. No more must I sit for 15 minutes pressing Shift-W while Corsairs ping uselessly away at my Liner.
If you want scary, just wait for a real Keeper (or group of them) to show up.

Fixed that for you...

Capship patrols are currently broken at the moment, with only a fraction of their loadout actually being equipped. This is due to the new turret split for capships, as NPCs have not had their loadouts adjusted to match with the new system. This will be fixed for the final release, thus making the Omicrons far more hazardous.
NPC fighters will not be as strong as before, however. All Gallic, Omega, and Omicron NPCs have been heavily downgraded in both damage output and armor. When we rebuild the spawn system, there will be missions with very strong NPCs available in them. However, random patrols and zone spawns of NPCs will never be stronger than what level 15 NPCs were in .85. Basically Rheinland difficulty will be the standard for all NPCs. Enough so you'll notice them, but not enough to make a player encounter an entirely one-sided event. This is due to the experience we had in Gallia.
NPCs are here to provide immersion and a challenge when desired, but not here to break player interaction, as they did in Nomad worlds, Omicrons, and Gallia during .85.
I didn't say all NPCs just the nomads. It's not like you run into nomad NPCs on your typical trade route, we are talking about the omicrons here. And they are supposed to be tough, like the guard NPCs that still have CDs. So yeah, if you choose to go to the omicrons, the nomad NPCs ought to put up a fight as welcome. As it stands right now, the omicrons are no more dangerous than any other system full of hostiles.
If you want danger in the Omicrons, find Nomad players, Corsair players, BHG player, or Order players. They are not in short supply. The server is for player interaction. NPCs provide immersion and a challenge in select situations (in this case missions).
So those aliens are lolwuts now ? They cant stop us if we are on cruise or just hit cruise? Well this makes me laugh , no danger ,go any where and when you are out numbered ,just hit cruise? Great
