For the human eye, at least for the not skilled human eye, Helena Agrippa and Theodore Sturgeon were two perfectly normal human beings. For their creator's eyes, they were machines. But for Dr. Hodge VanMojo, 'Hela' and 'Theo' were his beloved children.
Truth is that both of them were actually a form of life between the organic and the robotic. They breathed, ate, slept, and even showed some unsual demostrations of what one could identify as primitive emotions. Emotions that they did not fully understand, and which had become their way into knowing themselves, both individually and towards each other.
As far as Dr. Hodge VanMojo could research, this kind of beings were called 'replicants' in old Terra (were the first were built), and aren't so different from Sirius' sentients. He found them in a wrecked Erisian Space Chapel which orbited Planet Venus, inside a library, inoperative. The doctor spent long hours studying what was saved from the destruction of the place, and managed to read enough of the replicant's 'anathomy' in order to activate them again.
He started with the female model. She was blonde and pale and had a black tattooed horizontal stripe which covered both eyes. She was wearing a ragged dress and a veil which covered her face from the dim light of the abandonded station. Fortunately the Philosopher's Stone could breath life into her again, simply by touching the woman replicant's forehead with it.
Helena opened her eyes as if she had waked up from an eternal dream back into a not so oniric enviroment. Her first words were:
There is only one Goddess, doctor
Of course she wasn't refering to the old Pope, but he thought so in that moment and got really excited about his discovery.
How do you know my name lovely? What is yours? Who is your friend here?
She answered with the most inexpressive face:
You are not Dr. West. I am Helena Agrippa. She then pointed towards the male model, a blonde, athletic young man resting prone on the floor. His name is Theodor Sturgeon. He is my brother. Dr. West says we have a different surname because we have different mother power cells. Her attention then switched to the Apple Corps logo on Dr. Hodge's jumpsuit. Are you a Discordian Pope?
Dr. Hodge was more and more fascinated with the whole situation as the woman kept on speaking. He hurried to where the male model was and as he performed the same routine that he had practised to Helena, he told her:
Well well... What if I am?
As soon as the stone touched Theo's forehead he opened his eyes astonishingly quickly and searched for Helena's even faster. They remained like that, watching each other, for about five seconds. Then to Dr. Hodge's surprise, it was Theo who answered the question he had asked before waking the male replicant:
If you were a Discordian Pope, sir, we would be at your service, since we are Replicants of The Church of Eris Esoteric and were built to serve her acolytes, as explained by the Five Rules of Eristic Replicantishness.
The doctor stood up finding it difficult to believe such luck, and then said:
Well I am not only a Pope of Goddess, but the Patron of the Season of Discord, and Second Apostle of Eris. So I guess our encounter here has something to do with her doings. He then smiled. But please oh please! Noble Creatures! Do tell me more about these Five Rules...
Helena stood up at his side and so did Theo, and both put one hand on each of the doctor's shoulders. Then they both quoted the full list together:
The Law of One - An Eristic Replicant must never hurt an Erisian Acolyte, Pope, Apostle, or such.
The Law of Two - An Eristic Replicant must never, by inaction, allow an Erisian Acolyte, Pope, Apostle, or such to get hurt, unless this contradicts the Law of One.
The Law of Three - An Eristic Replicant must always obey his tutoring Erisian Acolyte, Pope, Apostle, or such, unless this contradicts the Law of One or the Law of Two.
The Law of four - An Eristic Replicant must always protect it's own existance as long as this does not contradict the Law of One, the Law of Two, or the Law of Three.
The Law of Fives - An Eristic Replicant is also subject to the Law of Fives.
And thus was that Hela and Theo met Dr. Hodge in Sol.
