4.86 - XFire compatability

Obviously since 4.86 isen't in the main game anymore it is nolonger supported by XFire's auto-detect software.

I have tried to make it detect it manually but it seems to refuse to accept 4.86's launch exe as a copy of Freelancer.

Anyone got any other ideas?

yup, same here. I got Win Xp and even when I try to change dir manually, error pops out.

Install vanilla to some random custom directory, then Discovery to the default path.

I have both vanilla and disco mod in separate folders, on the same disk, but completely separate folders... does it matter really ?

Ok, so I have it like that, and xfire doesnt work.

And if you want it to work, you copy over the discovery freelancer folder over to the regular freelancer folder.

That's actually an issue with Xfire, not Discovery.

What you have to do to make it detect the game is:

• Click 'Detect Games'.
  
• Select Freelancer from the list and pick 'Manual Detect' from the dropbox.
  
• Click Browse and select your 4.86 freelancer.exe.
  
• Click 'Apply' and it'll give you an error saying it can't find the .exe file.
  
• Click Ok, Your game path shows as 'E:\Discovery Freelancer 4.86.0\EXE\Freelancer.exe' (Or wherever your 4.86 is installed)
  
• Remove the '\EXE\Freelancer.exe' part which'd leave the game path as 'E:\Discovery Freelancer 4.86.0\'
  
• Click Apply and enjoy your Xfire In-Game.
