Hello Everyone,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question, I'm a little new to the forums ha ha ha. I'm examining the freelancer engine and I have got information on a lot of the file formats, but there is some information that I am missing. I hope some of you modders and developers out there can help me! :D
  • Does anyone have any information on the anm format?
  • What are .sur files and why do you need them?
  • Does anyone have a good tcp sniffer? (to scan tcp packets for fl multiplayer data, not to steal passwords )
If these are answered, I can continue on my quest for world domination!

Thanks,

Ichiru

Wireshark is good for network packet sniffing.

Hmmm. Did you get that off one of the file format sites? Because they are notoriously inaccurate at proprietary file formats used in games. I remember hearing that you could open them in some sort of utf editor, but I haven't tried that yet

These are freelancer UTF formatted files that contain Freelancer animation data (not images).

Quote:What are .sur files and why do you need them?
.sur(face) files. These describe the ship hitbox.

This is frowned upon as once it's decoded it opens the path to cheating. I can tell you exactly how to decode almost all of the FL network traffic, but I'm not going to without knowing more about why you want to know. The format is known and documented to a certain extent.

As mentioned above Wireshark is always the tool of preference for decoding stuff..
