So my phone's finally died, and im in the process of looking to buy a new one. one of my choices was a sony ericsson xperia play (yknow, the one with the playstation controller built in), HTC desire HD, and blackberry torch. i have used the HTC before so i know what to expect from there, i was mainly interested in knowing what people thought about the blackberry torch and xperia play and how it feels like. for example, how long does the battery last for, how are they keys, is the screen bright enough, any maintenance issues/crashing etc.
Well, I've only owned/used the blackberry, and I was very satisfied with it. My last few phones have all been blackberries, and I always liked them. Can't say much about the sony, but know that the berry is a sure shot.
for gaming, you might need a phone with tegra and nvidia stuff, and be sure that you just play for 30 mins, or buy a psp. Apple is doing well, samsung too and htc-sensation xe can help you in any thing. If you like camera quality, go for a nokia(auto focused ones.) or sony . Just dont go near other things.(like Lg or moto)
I suggest going for Nokia as the quality of those things in terms of survivability is increasing again. You might remember the old phones you could use a soccer ball etc and they would still work after that...

I actually just got the HTC Titan, and it's really good. I personally prefer the windows operating system to Android or iOS, or Blackberry. I also had a blackberry torch before the Titan.
I had the Xperia Play for a short while. It really is just a lacklustre Android 2.3 phone with a controller gimmick built in. Its performance isn't spectacular (single core, 1GB internal I think) and battery life doesn't last that much longer than my current HTC Sensation (far more superior in power).
Also, the fact that it doesn't utilise a graphics based processor like nVidia Tegra series means it's not that great for high end mobile gaming either. In the end, HTC delivers.
Xperia mini pro (I have an old one - x10 mini pro, so I can advice you a new one).
Screw play, It does not worth buying.
Also , if you dont like sliders, you may pick up xperia mini, live with walkman or xperia active.
dont go for any HD phones.
Edit: if you need hi-quality, looong-live simple but usefull phone, pick Nokia E52 or Nokia E72.
Also my advice, because E52 will be my next phone.
Edit2: Going after playingHD 131623541334153GGz and Ram you will get bored of it quiet fast, and you will be charging your phone each few hours.
There is no interesting games on Android, Ios, BB, windows, linux at all except FL:D
Edit3: If you will go for Nokia, nevr, rememebr, never pick any with sensor screen. E52 is a claasic one, and E72 is a qwerty one (like BB) both have metal and 240x320 non sens. screen, so you should not worry about battery and usefullness. Both are made in one design, the only difference is that E52 uses 1500 mA/h battery (around a week of medium working time) and 3.2 Mp camera ( cant rememebr with or without af), E72 uses 5.0 Mp camera...and I cant rememebr which battery. But you can search for reviews of both phones online.
