Seriously that company is in a horrible situation.

Their most prosperous station, Perth, that's taken over... Planet Harris has been in the middle of a warzone for years and has seen two wars and several battles right outsider her docking ring, supplying the planet has to be very expensive for all the work just to get to it. Coldbay depot is also in the middle of a warzone with embargoes both ways. Finally California Minor is their other big project, but it is in the most pirated system in existence... they have their flogrow factories there, or is that Synthfoods... regardless factories like that are not cheap and I dunno how they can put out enough of that stuff to make a profit.

I dunno, it really seems to be that that Planetform would have to be spending alot more money than then are taking in, that combined with constantly loosing assets can't be helping.

They need more supply contrackts probably. Rheinland or Liberty could use their hand. Bretonia now cant spend resources for teraforming right?

The numbers of pirates don't say it all. Most of them suffer horrible death before they can inflict any damage to economy of the system.

Planetform makes a profit from california miner, despite the amount of pirates. Its true. Harris is a pain yes, development has primarily stopped before the finalisation. Its not making a profit from it anymore. Same goes for perth and the planet they try to planetform there.

I agree, its a dying company but it can still make some money here and there selling expertise in planetforming.

There used to be pictures here

Is there an 'administration' style of management in Sirius? I mean, that company has been slammed profit wise, and is still going? Right...

If I'm remembering right, the lengths for contracts and for finishing projects is in the neighborhood of 400 years. A dozen and a half years isn't so much for that. And a whole lot of the time is just waiting for the components to fix the temperature, ecosystem, etc.

There may also be Manchester. And if the Liberty government is the one who initiated the Hudson project, then they should have a clear supply line from one side.

Of course, there's also the rumors that say the terraforming plans won't work and/or they will never meet their deadlines. So Planetform may just be fleecing the governments during all this.

Contracts can easily be nullified or just outright ignored in the face of war. Sure it really isn't pretty, but I doubt Planetform can sway any government to help them out in the current situation, unless Rheinland/Liberty want to bail them out, though I can't see that happening. I'm surprised Liberty doesn't have its own terraforming technology.

Oh wait, Liberty doesn't have everything after all! Time for some theft.

Planetform is extremely profitable because it is not, as one might think, part of the manufacturing industry, but is rather part of the services industry. Planetform maintains large contracts with governments across Sirius, as well as many private corporations, to use their expertese in the field of enviormental engineering to make planets habitable, or increase the desirable traits of already habitable planets. The people that they are contracting with cover all the costs of the nessicary materials, logistics and security, while the actual company really just assigns its scientists to moniter the terraforming process and make sure that the atmosphere generators get set up correctly and run smoothly. Of course, like any big company, Planetform maintains its own logistics and security wings, for when they feel they don't want to go out of company for the services they need. So basically, Planetform doesn't actually purchase the nessicary terraforming materials themselves; they use other people's money to do that. So, if we look at it that way, the Kingdom of Bretonia will actually have to go bankrupt before Planetform does.

That being said, the only real way I can imadgen Planetform going backrupt would be if one of their terraforming projects turns out to be a complete and total failure, and their contractor insists that Planetform refund all the service fees that were incurred during the terraforming. In that case, Planetform will most likly enter chapter 11, have the majority of its infrastructure sold off to the highest bidder, and the Gaians will spend the next few weeks getting massivly drunk and having all-organic raves.

Let it burn.
