I know that in the next patch we will have cloaking devices on pretty much all the ships.My question is what effects will we have for each ship?
Currently there are the followingcloak effects implemented ingame:rheinland fighter,cruiser,gunboat,battleship,nomad fighter,gunboat,battleship and osiris.That's it.
How are you going to implement all these effects on all ships?Because I don't think adding a rheinland BS cloak effect to a bretonia BS(like this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWFM9EOxc4U )would look nice,in fact it will ruin the cloaking system.
Some cloaks simply fit most ships,for example RH cruiser or gunboat cloaks will fit most transports and gunboats,but some are simply too small or large for these effects.what are the devs gonna do about this?will we have new effects for the ships that dont fit the existing effects?

please devs or admins,clarify this!:)

From what I understand, if they base it off the story mode of Freelancer, you can use thruster(Not recommended since it leaves a trail) & Cruise Engines, but no weapons can be fired. I think it might be like how Cruise Engine requires the core to work. Also Transports and starships like Carriers may be the only ones capable of cloak, even though in the game Rhienland Fighters have cloaking, but may take all of the core power meaning you have to fly on impulse all the way. Cloaking doesnt have independent aspects to a ship in any game that has em, just to be invisible and be off the scopes of pirates or military. I think also that the cloak generator would take a huge amount of space and may not be able to be mounted on many ships. Most likely, they will make starship scanners and at least 1 new one that requires alot of credits and space to have them for smaller ships. You have to remember, cloaks dont work all the time and may cause you more trouble than theyre worth.

Truth I dunno if you read up on the Cloaking devices the devs have in the works. They won't take 'space' but they will replace your countermeasures dropper and need some H-fuel in your cargo bay to run...meaning limited cloaking time depending on that.

I can't find the exact place where this is said though, so I guess you can't quote me on if this is the exact workings or not.

Cloaking effects will likely keep the blue whoosh that the Rheinlanders have in single player.

I've tested cloak, only on a Sabre though and it's blue-ish, but has nothing in common with Vanilla ones. Simply wait for a final release and you'll see.

Tested moderately

Can be mounted on fighters/bombers and Caps np, transports and freighters, only some, don't ask me which.

It will require HFuel/Deut/MOX/Oil

I've tested cloaks too, but, I think my ship bugged because I was followed everywhere by the red/blue, kept filling my screen.
