I've never been a big fan of the quality of these textures. I noticed that they were just a modified version of the Borderworld textures so I had a go at remaking them myself to a higher standard than the previous ones.
There's just one bug I need to work out. When you undock any of the snubs other than the Lynx, the Fleur-de-lis reverts back to the original. I need to find where the Serval and Cougar are pulling that part of the texture from when in space (haven't tested the Caracal).
Please excuse terrible grammar/spelling, I haven't slept in quite some time now.
It certainly looks cleaner, which is fitting with the Gallic lawfuls. And I'm pretty sure that this shipline is supposed to be pretty new, anyway, so it makes sense to look clean.
If you can fix the fleur-de-lis thing, I'd much rather see these textures on the Gallic ships than the current ones.
Lets put it this way....textures on my ships will be updated by me....capital, transport and civilian line already got both model and texture update. Same thing will be done to gallic snubs...both council and GRN.
Also there is a reason for rouged and not so clean look of GRN fighters. They may be new but they are constantly in fight....they may be new but they get shot at a lot....they are military vessels that are put to use and not slick city racers....
As for from where each ship pulls its textures....well, they all use the same one...so if one changes and other doesn't you are doing it wrong and updated textures will cause bugs. To upgrade those textures you need 5 minutes in photoshop and 3 in UTF editor and that's all. If done correctly all ships will get new textures.

I know that, and they all work while docked. However when the Serval and Cougar are in space the Fleur-de-lis part changes back to the old one.
like i said....then you didn't do it right....but its not important....in due time entire models will updated and textures along with them...
Just a note....i did experimented with cleaner textures when i made the ships but in space ship looked too plastic and from some distance, when LOD starts to kick in, completely white like untextured surface...thus i darkened edges to be seen even on lower resolution texture....
how can i know what are you doing when i don't have the files you edited....
most likely you opened Lynx in Milkshape replaced old textures with yours and then saved it together with updated mat file. That can result with doubled textures in the mat file with same name. Then while the ship is docked it shows textures you applied...but in space textures with the same name (old ones) are already loaded in your GF card memory and game doesn't think they need updating....thus they revert to old ones.
Old ones are preloaded because of NPCs.
Thats is most common bug of different textures sharing same name. Look under model bugs and you will find liberty carrier (or one of their caps i can't remember) textured with Firefly textures....
Compare the size of your mat file with original one. If there is a big difference then you doubled the textures in side....
