The daughter may have deserved the punishment, but I don't endorse the method which the father used to inspire fear and respect. I fail to see how destroying one's property could be justified over simply having a good talk and reason.
I think this was unnecessary and could have been avoided. Those who support this would probably also support domestic violence.

You must have missed the part where he mentioned this was not the first time, and the fact that she is young, and daddy bought the comp not her. So he was destroying HIS property, not hers.

What Veygaar and ryoken said.:P
They probably had a talk after the first time she got punished. Since it didn't work... fear is an option. And it's not like he hit her. I do agree with you that the method is a bit off... but that was his property and he can do whatever he wants with it.
And that's one of the reasons why it's better not to have kids:rolleyes:

I had a job in my teens as well - i went through 4 of them. I also worked through my Jr and Senior years of high school - me and my father lived alone, so I helped pay bills, buy food etc.
Only time I've ever been able to keep my money was when living on my own, and having to pay for my own expenses.

Oh gawd! How is destroying your own property, in an empty field with no one else around but yourself akin to domestic abuse? I mean really, honestly? Is that the best you can come up with?
Greeks throw plates, they must really be into their domestic violence!
At first, it was funny-funny because well, come on. Read it. It's a hoot. ...but then, when you think about it, it's funny-sad because you seem to really believe what your saying. Then, it gets funny again. Like the sympathy-filled-funny that comes from knowing that you will change your tune as time goes on. You'll look back at how you were at this time & eventually, down the road, will finally 'get' what's so funny.
