If I decided to start in game races, would people be interested in participating? I'm just curious because on several other mods I've played in the past (Asgard, Excelcia, ect...yes I know I'm old) we always had races and it was always really fun. You'd have to figure out how to get through the rings, whilst trying to blow up the guy in front of you with your guns, missiles, torpedoes, ect.
I'd be interested in hosting them if only people would participate. The most obvious place would be Dublin, but there are other ways such as racing across Sirius to a particular system and place for the prize. No rules (besides server rules of course), you can shoot your competition blow them up, cripple them, ect, to get to your destination.
Any thoughts? Curious to see what everyone thinks.
It can be fun for players who don't want to trade and fight but want to get some cash. I say try and give it a chance, it has some RP potential too. You know...well known racers, fan clubs, sponsors and all that kinda stuff.
I hate to say it, but racing always seem to wind up being a lead-balloon situation. At least, that's how I remember things. There've been many people (myself included) who've tried (with varying degrees of failure) to get a regular racing thing going...
EDIT: Oh, and Alvin... Best of luck with the Grand Prix idea, I guess with a prize like that, it's bound to go well, so my above words seem outdated now...
Make gigant speed track in Connecticute. Or something like Parish-Dakar races: Hokaido- Omega 50.
And team from every house: Libery- Liberator or Executioner, Rheinland- Banshi or Valkyr, Bretonia- Cavalair or Crusader, same to Kusari- Falcon or Stiletto for non-house team.
Place your bets!
