Red Faction:Guerilla is fun if you like bringing down a building with a mining hammer. Other than that I haven't really played any other good 3 TPS' lately. I'd say go Max Payne 2 but that's like 9 years old, it looks decent not stunning

If you're looking for a fusion of Shooter and RPG, play Mass Effect 1 and 2.
If you're looking for good straight up 3PS games?
GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption.
