1. Run Freelancer
2. Undock
3. CTRL+ALT+DELETE
4. Choose Task Mananger
5. Go to Processes
6. Right click on Freelancer.exe*32
7. Press on "Set Affinity"
8. Select "<All Processors>"
9. Click ok and alt tab back in game
Note #1
Everytime you undock you will have to do this because Freelancer will auto set the affinity on one core (first core for me)
You can actualy test this with fraps by fraping one core then select on *insert number* cores.
Tested on laptop with the CPU i5 480m 4 thread 2 cores, full graphics 1360x768x32
I will update this on my Dual Core PC.
Test by yourself and post your result, i hope this thread actualy helped you.
And yeah i know that the other solution might be to get your lower resolution, put graphics on 0 and play on 16 bits but some maniacs like me actualy enjoy to play on full graphic mode and resolution with fraps on.
Above 60 fps
I've turned off the v-sync with freelancer and i've went ~90 fps one core / ~90 fps with full cores. I actualy recommend to turn on the v-sync with freelancer as you will get a better performance. (yes i mean it because your PC it's actualy using almost all resources he can get and sometimes can actualy freeze you for 1 second if you have the v-sync disabled)
' Wrote:I recommend to V-sync your freelancer with your monitor.
As far as i know human eyes can't see the difference between 60 fps or *insert monitor refresh rate* and 155 fps:P
' Wrote:[color=#FFFFFF]And the only that will happen is screen-tear so yep put some v-sync in there
I tried it. I am having a Dual Core. But nothing changed after doing what you said. FPS are at 155 when playing without activating the second CPU and at 155 when activating the second CPU.
I recommend to V-sync your freelancer with your monitor.

This shouldn't change anything - FL isn't multi-threaded (able to run on more than one core natively), and wouldn't be able to run on more than one core even if you allow it to do so in the Task Manager. It's a nine year old game, after all.
And besides, if you've already got a dual-core (or more) processor already, you shouldn't have a problem running the game smoothly even in (relatively) big fights.

That isn't always the case. I have a decent graphics card that can handle everything I throw at it in all games I've tried, yet I still get massive framerate drops in certain systems. Omega 5 and 41 are the worst. Probably something to do with the ATI card I have. I had an older nvidia card and had no issues at all.
Regardless, I'll give this a try and see how it goes.
