Elisa crouched in the shadows of the corridor. Neither she nor her enemy could see each other in the darkness. Suddenly, the outpost rocked with an explosion that lit up the room, and Elisa could clearly see her enemy in the room that was now filling with fire. Elisa raised her weapon, but it was too late as the scientist already had his weapon aimed. Elisa's head suddenly filled with fear, she couldn't find the courage to pull the trigger. Then, almost as soon as the two saw each other, a gunshot rang through the air, and Elisa's eyes filled with shock.
Elisa was only 20 years old, and even then, she has only worked with the Gaians for a month. She was given a simple fighter to start off. They squad leaders didn't mind helping Elisa, they didn't find anything to worry about with her past. Growing up on a Freeport does have some benefits. The Gaian group came across Elisa when they were stopping a mining ship. Elisa was just a passing fighter, and when the superior Bretonia Police showed up, she herself was targeted out of confusion. The Gaian squad offered Elisa a place, and they led her back to their mobile base.
However, the help came at a cost. Elisa, a complete stranger to ground combat, was required to help the group raid a genetics lab. At first, the attack went off without a hitch. The raid squad managed to capture the lab's data and send it back to their mobile base, and started to detain or eliminate the scientists. But, as usual, something went wrong. Some scientists refused to go without a fight. The Gaians were ambushed by a scientist wielding a grenade launcher, and was mostly eliminated. Elisa managed to corner the scientist into a back room before the station's power was cut. They lost each other in the darkness. When the room caught fire, the two confronted each other with weapons raised. Then, a gunshot rang through the air.
