Gentlemen,
The Gallic Royal Navy has beaten you.
You turned on your own.
And your loyal men stand at home, sharpening their Katanas and rumble about honour.
My men clutch their cutlasses and take it to the Frenchmen who came at us.
Kusari is far from beaten, your Emperor knows this, my Queen knows this, your men know this, and my men know this.
I promise you no conditons for after the war with the Gallics, but I can offer you one thing.
If you commit your men to the war, join the fight, there you will find the lost honour, fighting for what is ours... whether the Taus belong to Kusari or to Bretonia, that awaits to be seen, a matter between us. US!
Are you telling me that your claim can be taken away from you by wine swilling drunkards who believe them superior to us both?
Get off your silken cushions, draw your swords, and help us drive them out. Then, when the new dawn rises, the matter of blood over the Taus will be decided in a rightful and honourable measure, between those who discovered it, bled for it, and sculpted it.
In Service to her Majesty,
The Duke of Norfolk
Fleet Admiral and Commander in Chief of the Bretonian Armed Forces
Bretonian Armed Forces.

First of all I would like to congratulate you on your promotion to Fleet Admiral, Sir Jack Fraser. Your name seems very familiar, as I believe, you were a former member of Queen Carina's Privateers. Open wounds are quite painful when salt is rubbed into them, as Kusari still remembers the cold-blooded ruthlessness of your group of gallivanting trouble-makers across our home territory. A wound that is difficult to be forgiven.
My... "Emperor knows this." My emperor. In case you hadn't notice, Sir Fraser, Kusari is no longer bound by the burden of a man whose rule was only because he happened to be born of a certain caste. That you would even have the gall to address your message to our Imperial Court says much more about your true intentions, as it seems you wished to offend us in every way possible.
Most impressive. When this transmission finally reached my office, I nearly fell off of the chair I was sitting upon. I can tell you that needless bloodshed will not come from the house of Kusari, but as an act that we are not as savage as your Privateers once were, the war cabinet of Kusari will be convening to talk on various issues... this being one of them.
We will reply once the final decision has been made.
Signed
Prime Minister Shimura Yokitara
Republic of Kusari
Fleet Admiral and Commander in Chief, Duke Of Norfolk, Sir Jack fraser: It is an honour to speak with you; this may be the most important message I have ever sent.
Since you have gone to the trouble of resurrecting this secure means of communication, and there is now peace between us, I feel I may speak more openly that I would dare before.
The Crown of Gallia decimated over half of our forces, though shaken to our very core we still hold a deep hatred for the Gallic war machine: we must maintain a mask of compliance and obedience to this tyranny, for they are formidable in number.
Of course you are right: they have no more right to the Taus than that which they take; but I cannot commit my men to a suicidal action in good faith. Of course, as an admiral you have already considered this ' and so I assume that you have a long term tactical plan in mind.
I am willing to have our forces work in concert covertly, with an end to drive off the Gallic Navy. Our immediate concerns are on the Home front: beset by Criminals and insurgents, we must commit significant forces to protecting the core. That said, a few special operatives could be spared to begin co-operative operations, until more are free once we have established stability.
As an intial step I believe we should share intelligence. We have ballistic and some tactical data from the Gallic offensive, blast damaged wrecks, black-box recordings and the like. We will find a way to send you whatever your people deem useful. I hope that, for both our sakes, that your idea is what tips the balance against the tyranny of Gallia.
May our ancestors look upon us kindly,
[color=#FFFFFF]Bakuryō-chō taru Kaishō Mikako Takahashi,
Kusari Naval Forces.

Gentlemen,
I will wire in the head of the Bretonian Intelligence Services to co-ordinate with you regarding this. Any assistance, covert or overt, is respected.
I hold no illusions of grand gestures and page turnings, we're candid here, open and honest with each other.
But I can say this, every small step towards the defeat of this monster, Gallia, brings us both a step closer to redemption and a restoration of both our honours.
In Service to her Majesty,
The Duke of Norfolk
Fleet Admiral and Commander in Chief of the Bretonian Armed Forces
