Well, ill be ordering a MSI Force 1761 from www.xoticpc.com very soon, and I was planning on getting a Razer Orochi with it which uses bluetooth to connect wirelessly...
So naturally I go look at Wireless cards.
I've heard bad things about both cards im looking at.
The Killer Wireless N-1102 and the Intel Advanced N-6230.
The Intel I was looking at because it had bluetooth built in, but when I looked up reviews it seemed people had problems with interference with it, wifi and bluetooth at the same time.
As for the Killer Wireless I've heard a lot of talk of problems too but its much 'faster' than the best intel 6300 according to reviews and benchmarks.
When it comes to gaming over a network the most important criteria is the latency. Now, there will always be a latency between the server and your machine over the internet and this is amplified when you're working on a wireless connection. Irrespective of the card you get a wireless connection ping will always be slower than a wired LAN connection. I wouldn't recommend wireless gaming for any fast action games.
Interference also matters a lot on any wireless network.

I don't use wireless anything, except for when I want to put a new ringtone on my phone, then I plug in the bluetooth dongle I have. Useful little gadget about 3/4's the size of a cigarette lighter.
I think the Killer is the best option.
I use my laptop to play through Wifi and I haven't had any problems with latency, and that's being at 10m away from the router. But yes, cable is better, but unless your just a couple of metres away from your router there shouldn't any problems with the connection.
I have craptacular AT&T DSL right now that downloads at 151KB/s at MAXIMUM
Still get good pings in games, weird...
Anyways.
I use an ethernet cable to connect to my modem...
Cable modems? How are they different? Do they still use ethernet? Or do you have to have some special cable or what? I might be getting Comcast in the future is why i'd like to know.
And yeah, I'm got a bluetooth dongle too because the killer card doesnt have it but the intel card with bluetooth built in has a lot of problems according to reviews everywheres. I'll use the bluetooth for my Razer Orochi im also getting with this laptop =P Good times.
