Yesterday, at approximately 1700Hrs Manhattan Time, the Liberty Air Force suffered a devastating blow. A type 'C' 'Goose' Class Shuttle, carrying members of the General Staff, was lost upon entering New London Space. As you know, typical operating procedures would not allow for the concentration of the entirety of Senior Command aboard one vessel, for exactly this reason. However; the secondary shuttle reported engine difficulties prior to take-off from Planet Houston, and MAJGEN Yeager deemed arrival at Planet Leeds to be a priority. Contact with the shuttle was maintained until it entered Manchester, whereby normal procedure would necessitate switching to BAF frequencies. Present records indicate that this did not occur.
The craft's jump to New London was recorded by both Command's Long Range scanners, and the Shuttle's escorts. After that, TACOM reported loss of the signal. The ship never arrived on Planet Leeds. A Search and Rescue flight was dispatched in the early hours of this morning and reported no signs of Senior Command.
Consequently, it is my sad duty to inform you that the following personnel are now Missing in Action, presumed dead:
General Daniel Winters, Chief of the Air Force
Lieutenant General Nicholas Marchant, Operations Chief - Bretonia
Lieutenant General Cameron Gibbs
Major General James Yeager, Chief of Research and Development
Brigadier General Thomas Lyten
Colonel David Patton
Lieutenant David Thompson
2nd Lieutenant Lisa Baker
Sergeant William Roberts
Airman Ralph Shaw
Airman Vicky Cunningham
Their names will be inscribed upon the Roll of Honour, and letters sent to their families.
Now, we expect that press will get hold of this information in due time. Until such a time as Central Command is able to disclose a full report, it is expected that all members will refrain from offering interviews or opinions to the media. Please direct any inquiries to a superior, as it is vital that we not disclose information until we can give a full picture to the public. I expect the sacrifice of these brave men and women to be treated with the utmost respect, and I'm certain that, as a service, you are capable of doing so.
Unfortunately, the war leaves us little time to mourn, and operations must continue. Due to the loss of Air Force command, and as the ranking officer, Lieutenant Colonel Harold Comstock is promoted to Colonel and hereby appointed Chief of the Air Force. Central Command has the utmost faith in you Colonel, and we wish you the best of luck in this difficult time.
To the rest of you, continue doing your duty as you have done. Your dedication and commitment to this organisation, and to your country serves as inspiration to both myself, and the entire nation.
